Playback: You Send Us Your Music, and We Play it Back

The UA Playback judges were confounded again by having to choose among a lot of great music from many genres. We are learning that it's not that fun to pick a "winner" when so many entries are so good. Congratulations to everyone who entered. Keep up the great work!

September WINNER: Jay Condiotti

First off UA rocks! No other company does analog and digital equally amazing. I have a UA 2-610 which I used on this track for the drum overheads, bass and vocals. Part of the reason the drums sound so good is the UA 2-610 and the other part is world class drummer Kenny Aronoff playing his [explicative deleted -ed] off. The 2-610 has a beautiful sound to it which can be clean or dirty. For the overheads I had the gain on -5 and the level at 6.5. That gave me a clear warm sound even though Kenny was hitting hard. For the bass and vocals I liked the smooth clipping I get from turning the gain up. The vocals had a boost at 7k of +3db in the 2-610 and that gave them a smooth presence. Well that's just the analog contribution of UA to this song. There's UAD powered plug-ins on almost every instrument! I use the 1176's on the electrics; the Fairchild on the bass and the vocal had an 1176, LA-2A and Cambridge eq on it. The drums also had 1176's, Pultecs and LA-2A's on them. Without UA on this project I would have been lost! Here's the band link:
