This isn’t "generic Marshall". This is "real Marshall". And as a long‑term Marshall user, I recognise so much of what those amps meant to me in the touch response and sonic performance of the Lion ’68. This feels like it was a labour of love for the design team, and I’m sure that love will be reciprocated by those who know the real thing, and indeed those now able to experience something of the Marshall magic for the first time.
As ever with UA, the quality of the digital emulations therein are up there with the very best out there, and in the case of the Orion and especially the 1176, are pretty much the best you’ll find.
The Orion delay and Heavenly reverb are absolute gems and I don’t care at all that they are mono.
Distilling the best bits of two other UAFX pedals into one simple unit, the Del-Verb makes so much sense for ambient soundscapers.
Since most of the modelling world seems to be in an arms race to offer more amps, effects, IRs, connectivity and controllers, these are a bit of a statement! UA appear to be calculating that there are players who weigh up the price, facilities and, above all, sound balance quite differently, and I think they might be right.
