Great headroom
Along with Apollo 8 I have great headroom for plugins, but its not easy to place it in a rack.

great gear for the best plugins available on the market bar none
I'm a massive UA fan and have been for some time. Sure I've had a few issues with gear in the past but when it works it is quite simply the best.
The only reason this gets 4 stars instead of 5 is the fact that I'm hitting my limit with plugs in regards to both DSP and PGM at times and I feel that shouldn't be happening with the amount of plugs running when it happens, and I would prefer if some plugins were not so heavy on the resources (such as the SSL E channel strip) but as mentioned the plugs this gear enables me to run are quite simply the best there are

Great product, great idea
I had the USB version of this, I gave up on PC and went to Mac and haven't looked back. Not because the USB version was bad, I just got sick of Windows. Anyway, this is fantastic and is extremely useful for powering those amazing, but heavy and intensive plugins. Only one criticism. You should be able to somehow lend processing power to Apollo interfaces because they are only barely capable of running some plugins.

6 cores will allow comfortable tracking in most cases for 8-12 track projects depending on your plugins
This was a much needed upgrade, I feel like 6 cores allows for comfortable tracking in most cases, as long as you arent using certain channel strips. The experience is pretty seamless, plugged it in, registered it to my account and instantly had more CPU available. I have not noticed any issues with the load being shared by 2 seperate boxes, which is nice.

Satellite Quad thunderbolt
I love the UA gear and the plugs are still certainly the best out there in my opinion, although some companies are getting closer and I use many different options for my recording projects.
I would give the UA stuff top marks except for the Limit in DSP power that they have. I would want more instances able to run on both my apollo quad and satellite, and I think that the plugins are a tad too expensive as well as using too much of the DSP allotted. I do consider them to be the best though, as previously stated and I guess the best costs...as has always been the case. I would also like to have the option of maybe changing the free classics bundle plugs for others if you own more than one piece of hardware that the come with as It's less of an incentive to buy when you already have these plugs due to other gear purchased. But again, I do love the plugins and the quality is undeniable

Attractive, easy to use, portable, though expensive
I've never owned a UAD system before, and the Thunderbolt Octo Satellite has added a huge amount of power to my system. The plugins really are the best of the best, and I've used (and owned) them all - so it's worth the purchase.
However, I did expect to be able to run more instances of plugins, since the price of the box is that of a very high-spec computer! The box itself is very expensive for what it is. Ultimately, though, I can now mix full 96kHz multitracks with multiple plugins and tracks without my system ever getting close to the limit. It'll pay for itself in time.

great
I am able to place an effect of my choice across 20 tracks with no problems, absolutely fabulous, I'm amazed.... Great Job UAD.,,,

Satellite Saves the Day
I recently was given the rebate satellite with my purchase of the Apollo 8, and I must say...it was absolutely needed! Kind of sucks to say this, but I can't see you running much without it. I believe in future models, UA should consider simply building this CPU power and processing into the actual device. It seems odd it'd be separate. But, hey, that's marketing I suppose. I am just glad I got it for a rebate cost of nothing.
But, regardless, I love the combo and what it does. Nothing has blown my mind like this set up in the audio world for a while.

いい感じにプラグインが動かせます
Apollo8 DUOを購入した際にキャンペーンで付いてきた物でしたが、QUADということもあってかなりプラグインを動かせます。
ミックス時、歌の掛け録りに重宝しています

Almost perfect
Got this included with the purchase of my new Apollo 8 unit (Thanks UA!) I would never have purchased this device without the incentive offered, but I'm def glad I got my hands on it. All that's missing is the ability to utilize the Satellites DSP within the console software...otherwise pretty much ideal for anyone looking to expand the available DSP on an existing UAD system or looking to reduce processor constraints by getting away from natively-hosted plug-ins. Would love to look into a twin quad to round out my I/O and get some portability going.... when the stars align, maybe! Thanks again UA, keep up the good work.

Great product and easy to setup
Really nice extra power to my UAD setup and works smoothly. Setting up was easy and nice with extra plugins. Only disappointment is when I realised that it doesn't add extra power to my Apollo Twin when recording directly from Console. Would be nice to be able to use extra power in both DAW and Console.

UAD-2 Satellite QUAD - free!
Trouble-free, using with Apollo 8 and Apollo Twin on Mac 10.11.
Received it as a bonus for purchasing an Apollo 8 QUAD, which I love and is a
nice upgrade from the Apollo Twin Duo I also own. UA offer some great deals during the holiday season.

Great promotional item! Double your processing power!
I received one as part of the Apollo rackmount purchase promotion. I have an 8p and adding this Satellite to the rig doubles the number of shark chips and plugin processing power.
Now I can leave my console setup for recording without having to deactivate all the plugins while working in Ableton. I use roughly 7 inputs of various sources and have 2-3 plugs in each channel. The vocal mike has considerably more processing applied.
Before adding the Satellite, this meant 40% processing load without any plugin instances inside my DAW! Now, that setup uses less than 25% of my total processing power.
I wanted to give 4.5 because the Satellites are not rack mountable. In fact, they're actually just a LITTLE too small to fit in 1U. A faceplate that allows for rack-mounting a couple side-by side and / or individually would be great.

UA Thunderbolt Satellite OCTO
Thunderbolt bandwidth allows for larger plug-in counts. Other UAD-2 hardware can be seamlessly used in tandem. I use an Apollo Twin Duo and it all "just works" Available with a range of plugin bundles. Fanless, silent operation.
It is possible to "max out" on plugins with this unit but for my music I find this sufficient. I'm so pleased that I bought the Octo as opposed to the Quad as I think I'd have found it lacking and unable to keep up with the amount of processor hungry plugins I use even in my relatively small acoustic mixes.

UAD-2 Satellite Thunderbolt

Brilliant Device, next time I'd buy an Octo!
Installation was really easy. All software works smoothly, no crashes. Most of the plugins sound incredible compared to waves products.
Only two things: If you buy a card for almost 1000 bugs it's a bit of a drag that there is no thunderbolt cable is included. Plus Apple is charging 40 EUR (!) for this cable.
The plugins sound great but many eat up a lot of cpu. I couldn't even imagine how to deal with a Duo card. If you got some extra cash, go buy the Octo.

1176
I like that the 1176 breaks up like my real one does, i find that most clones just falls appart.
