quad UAD-2 SATELLITE
didnt want to make this purchase...but, since I'm using UAD Luna almost exclusively, I was having to freeze a lot of tracks using my apollo twn...Freezing is a great feature of Luna, but cumbersome with mix flow....not sure why its so expensive, but???
since Im almost exclusively using UAD software.....glad I bit the bullet.
It sounds like there will be less and less need for DSP with UAD in the future, but I suspect it will be years before this quad is obsolete?

Authorization was a headache. Tech support via email only took 1.5 weeks. But quickly once addressed, very powerful unit

Love it, takes a load off my CPU but...
docking a star off because it should really come with more plugins at that price. In practice you only really get two decent go-to plugs. La-2a and 1176. And they're the old ones that done't have headroom dial and resizing options like the newer versions available natively. I've just paid 999 euro and then it's only another €53 for the essentials in 'my offers' to get a few more plug-ins. Seems like such a small amount relative to the 1k I just spent, why not just through that essentials collection in.

Thunderbolt out of the blue
Was running out of DSP with my mixes really quickly, frustrated it was time to purchase the octo, Christmas came early this year, so much more power for my mixes!

Satellite of love?
This was a purchase I wasn't sure I needed to make. And I'm still not totally convinced. Very expensive way to make sure I can run the UAudio plugins I need when I need them. I absolutely love LUNA and the UA plugins I have purchased but the truth is this is an extremely expensive way to produce tracks especially when I consider what an overwhelmingly complete and great sounding package the Logical option is. The Octo Satellite I purchased works as intended ...no problems activating or operating (so far) but I really think there should be a little sweetener added as I already own an Apollo Twin .. maybe a couple of plugins I don't already have? Maybe? Anyway, the 1084 is a staple on my channels as is the Avalon. The unison preamps is what this is all about for me. And seeing as I bake the audio inputs onto disc and I only have two pre's on the Apollo, the Satellite is a bit of overkill. However it is nice to be able to run a bunch of plugins at mix down instead of watching the DSP monitor all the time. All in all ... it does what it says on the tin.

Powerful DSP engine.
I run the satilite Octo thunderbolt 3 as a Audio unit effects plug-in,in Ableton Live 11 suite. It allows me to use multiple channels of UAD plug ins,Powerful.

Works as expected
Second one of these, just switched it on and was seen without any need to mess about. Simple’s.

Satellite Delite
Second Satellite Works great in both LUNA and Logic. gives the extra processing needed when mixing. Can't wait to get an X-6 to go along with this!

OCTO gives you wings
Starting with an Apollo quad, the additional 8 chips puts me at 12 and I am flying! Even with an M1 mac, offloading DSP using UAD plugins keeps my system lag and crash-free. Finally, I can run multiple reverb and delay busses... it's really a dream come true. I tried the alternatives, and encountered problems. With UAD, I record near zero-latency and get to focus on creation without freezing tracks. Worth it for the freedom.

Xtra processing is a must
I’ve been with UA since the the first UAD PCI Solo card in what now seems like the stone ages.
Even though UA’s plug-ins are amongst the best sonically, they are resource hungry. Especially if you use their Unison technology driven preamps and modelers. This is the third satellite I’ve owned and it’s truly a game changer for serious professionals.

Very useful
I have a lot of space for uad plugin!
And i agree with P.Duville give me another choice!

DSP Booster For Sure
I needed this extra plug in power because some of my projects demands the power to run certain plugins that are dsp hogs. They could at least throw in the auto tune plug-in for buying both Apollox4 and Satellite Octo, that would be nice of Universal audio

UA the Best
Well of course the UAD plugs are the best. They sound fantastic! The only bad that I can say if that they are expensive! I got the Apollo X4 and after learning it realized that I needed more DSP ! I didn’t know that even with 4 chips I wouldn’t be happy. I want to run only UA plugs so I needed the Octo Now I can run 54 instances of the DSP intense Neve 88rs channel strip! Oh... my life is complete!! (at lease until the next big thing)

Delighted
Now I use the best plugins, the best emulations... my mixes are greater. Nothing to add

Universal Audio UAD-2 Satellite Thunderbolt - OCTO Custom
Good stuff but what I bought was a Universal Audio UAD-2 Satellite Thunderbolt - OCTO Custom. Excellent product really provides the seamless heavy lifting to support bigger mixes. Nice to be able to build and engineer audio chains on the canvas and not get limited by tech. Let's you put it between the speakers. Thinking of getting another unit for the house.
The rear power switch on the OCTO compromises usability. Also it should come with optional 1RU Ears. Had to pursue a DIY to custom fitted solution to put it in the rack in one of our sidecars.
Desk space is premium real estate. The price was also a bit heavy almost the cost of the main Apollo 8 we purchased. Overall great product. Also like the umbrella licensing across the entire system for the plugins. That is a solid value add.

Plug and Play
I registered the satellite and connected to my TB3 connection at my MacBook Pro and connected my Apollo Twin X to TB3 of the satellite. Works fine
