Gives you the extra UAD Plug-in power you need in your DAW
I started out with an Apollo Twin-X and it works fantastic, I found myself wanting more plug-in power, as some of the really high processing intensive ones used up my Apollos processors. I got the Octo to now give me a total of 10 processors and I can use plugins on multi track projects. The only thing I did not realize was that the Satellite processors cannot be used in the console app. Which in one way makes sense because the processing done in the console app is on the way in. It just seems odd that as much as Universal Audio promotes you to use their console app, to use the majority of my plug in power I have to use it in the DAW. The Satellite unit itself is very well built as all of Universal Audio's products, very easy to setup, just open the box, plug it in, register it (if you already have the Universal Audio software package installed) and you're up and running, within the DAW it works great. so I knocked off one star for the no console usage even though It may not be possible to pull that off. A solid 4 Star piece of equipment

Good hardware and great software but...
It works perfectly for mixing and recording but in my configuration with NI Maschine I cannot set too many plugs. I have quickly an error message or delay with this daw. Even if I still have cpu ressources. I cannot set too many plugs in serial. Otherwise the sound is crazy and the hardware seems built to last. Thank you UAD team. We want more (DSP) !!!

Impressive Increase In Mix Capability.
Although expensive for a proprietary unit, it achieves, with ease, the claimed expansion of useable plugins available for use in a large ProTools session.
Impressive and actually strait-forward to integrate into your existing system

Does exactly what it should
Good piece of gear.
Great amount of dsp for what I need.

Plenty of power!
My unit is OCTO powered. I got is as a part of Apollo promotion and it is a useful, valuable addition to my setup. Provides enough horsepower for my mixing projects.
I only wish UA found some way to make it work with Luna software. As of now you can only use it in other DAWs for mixing and using UAD plugins (in you have an Apollo, it's only usable for mixing basically).

A friend of Apollo x6 who has a nice design that can power my music.

-1 for the bulky power supply
The power supply is so annoyingly big I wanted to give only 3 stars. But tgen I realized that it could power my mac. Thats awesome. So I have 4 stars to give. It‘s an Octo. Pretty powerful. What else?

UAD-2 IS THE BEST, BUT...
...as a Universal Audio customer (with an Apollo 8, several purchased plugins and now the Sat) I would have hoped to get at least one plugin free. I have nothing more to say except that the sound is fantastic.

Great Interface!
No latency and useful Console App. Multiple cues and talkback. NICE. With ADAT I/O I have 16 simultaneous inputs, which is essential. HOWEVER: I am surprised and disappointed in how quickly the system runs out of processing power even with the UAD Satellite. I'm not sure if its me or what, but I expected much more for the 3 plus thousand I spent on it.

Solid stuff!!!!
Well build equipment. Does what it should do.

Great DSP boost for home studio
I received a free Satellite Quad during the Apollo X series deal. It does what it says. Easy to set up and authorise for your UA plugins. Adds some extra processing load to my APollo X6 based rig. It looks great and seems to have high quality build, just like the Apollo series of interfaces.
If I was buying one I'd probably go for the Octo model.
While these are a great addition to your rig they are fairly expensive for what you get.

Great DSP Booster
I use it individually to mix with UAD plug ins, or plugged to my apollo 8 for more power while recording. Very nice, small and clean, easy to travel with.
The ON/OFF button feels a bit cheap compare to the apollo 8 and it still worth more than a thousand, the only pitfall.

Good expansion for your DSP power
but what a pity, cannot be used in console app.

Good and Overpriced
It is overpriced. But since UAD is kind of exclusive to me, I’ll take it. Overall I like it, good quality, nice compatibility.

Wonderful ! Good purchase
Got it for a work in progress and to help the 4 DSP of my TWIN MKII so for sure, a new fresh air for additionnal plugins in my project. And for sure, more dsp, more plugins.

Seamless integration and capacity...
UAD’s seamless integration of SHARC processors wouldn’t be possible without the foolproof plug and play functionality of the Satellite units. Scalable and reliable processing power—first time, every time.

Too little DSP power
Many new UAD plugins consume large amount of power. I need at least two Octo to do a smaller mix. Other than that, it's great and compact in size.

DSP anxiety gone!
The Octo Satellite does exactly what it says on the box and that's exactly what I wanted. I've daisy-chained my Apollo Twin into the Satellite then into the Mac and presto! No more agonising decisions about which UAD plugin I can or can't use because of resource limits and no more tedious bouncing of tracks to save on DSP. Great solution!
