It's so CRUNCHY!!
Never used the hardware unit so I can't compare the software to it. However, this compressor is absolutely fantastic on Drums, Snares, and for me specifically, Hip-Hop Drum Loops/Samples. The CRUNCH that it adds just makes everything sound bigger, fatter, and better! (IMO).
Send your drums to an Aux, Throw the 160 on it...compress the hell out of it and turn up the gain....then blend that back into the original drums and voila...BEEFY, CRUNCHY!

80s thickness
I got one of these peices on loan and after compairing to this little - but huge sounding plugin I have to say UA really nailed it. I reach for this comp to squeeze room sounds to unheard of lengths. its absurd. i like the simplicity of the controls and yet it yields an amazing unique color - a must have

Stunning Collection
After dithering about whether I should buy this collection, I took the plunge and glad I did. I have used these plugins on pretty much everything I've done since getting them. The hi-pass/low-pass is practically essential for me now, as is the main eq for the bass trick I learned from the recent pro tools videos. A real step up from the previous ones, which were good anyway. Nice one UA, don't listen to the dissenters who want it for free because they bought the first one. Clearly a lot of work went into these, and they deserve to be paid for it.

Universal Audio rocks!
If you had to pick one compressor which gives you maximum gain, ultra fast attach & release, enhances anything it touches with an outstanding sound which doesn't take away the character of the original sound & is dead easy to use….this would be it!
The LA-3A…the sound of an LA-2A & 1176 in an easy to use box!
If I could only have the one compressor…this would be it.
Thankfully due to UA's unbelievable armory of classic compressors we are not confined to one, or two great compressors amongst other 'good' ones…like the old days.
Like others's have said…if you have the 1176,LA-2A..you have to add this,no question!

Excellent emulation!
I never thought plugins could come this close to the real thing. I own most of the UAD library and have liked most everything so far, but the updated versions of the Pultecs, LA2As and 1176s are superb. And the new Fairchild...sublime. A combo of the 660 followed by a Pultec EQP-1A on a well recorded vocal is just awesome. I hate to use words like 'warm' and '3 dimensional' and 'silky', but they all apply here. Each of these plugins feels and sounds like its hardware counterpart. These are the first plugins I've used that 'feel' right, like I'm using the real thing. I can almost smell them. Thanks, Universal Audio, for continuing to improve upon your already great plugins as technology advances.

THE "go-to" 1176's
As a first time UA user, I tried out the 1176 Legacy that came with my Satellite custom bundle and was disappointed as it couldn't even come close to my CLA76 blue stripe. I was about to move on to other 1176's from other companies when I noticed UA had this updated collection. WOW!!! A/B'd them to the CLA76's and T-racks and this bundle blew them away. More musical, more options, and each has it's own unique character that works in different applications. For those who swear by CLA's, try these out. They'll become your first option!

Nicest verb for your mix
A lot of reverbs seem to be stuck in the background, and sometimes you want that. A lot get lost in hectic songs, or have a poor sound or an overwhelming sound when you try to get them to cut into the mix. My first reaction to the 224 plugin was "okay it doesn't really sound like the real one but my does it work. This plugin can cut through a mix and make the reverb a part of the journey more than many others. It can also sit in the background if you want and stay out of the way. It is really a dream come true for my reverb arsenal.

A new go too
I always liked the legacy version of the Fairchild but this goes much further,it is a joy to use and since buying it the comps ive only ones ive used are these and the Blue face ones, ive even stopped using my out board rack 1176.

Just like the real thing
The guys at UA have really pulled it off this time...
I've worked a lot with original Fairchild 760 compressors and this just has to be the nearest thing I've ever heard to an actual 760... It's warm and discreet, versatile and packed full of those features we all wish that the real Fairchild had... And you can have loads of them at the same time!!... It's hard not to use it on everything!!...
Brilliant!!!...

The best Pultec plugin
Couldn't pass one this one as i realy love the Pultec style EQ.
This version clearly is an improvement over the Legacy version and the new filters are a nice addition to the collection.
Surely the first EQ to get after a basic parametric.

Perfect for tube warmth for tracks
If u want to add some tube warmth to your tracks then this plugin does really well.
Just run the signal through it for the Fairchild vibe

The Only One I'll Use.
We've been trying to capture a Fairchild for the digital domain for years now, and honestly, no one's ever really nailed it for me. I've tried to love it (in Waves, IK for example.) However it just left me going "meh". Nothing exciting, why bother? I'll reach for something else.
Then I was finally talked into making the UAD jump by a co-producer, and eventually made my way to demo the original Fairchild on UAD, still wasn't terribly impressed. It was good, but not quite there yet for me...
When I saw that a revision was in, and gave it a demo, I was FINALLY hooked.
Really great job here! Both the 660 and 670 are quite impressive sonic beasts! Great update, a must grab for anyone while they are still on sale.

Can't Be Beat.
Should be known, I've been a Waves user for YEARS, and had I known better I would have trashed their emulations of the 1176 for these a long while ago!
I can not stress enough the night and day difference in applying these 3 instead. There's none of that "make-believe" noise floor that Waves thinks we need in our mixes, and the clarity and punch is mind blowing.
I used to harp on UAD for being too expensive, needing their own DSP power, and now I can not live without my UAD arsenal. I've thrown the rest away, Waves, IK Nomad, there's no comparison.
