So close
These are the first 1176 emulations that have ever come close to the real thing, for me. They're not just a compression curve behind an interface like a lot of others. They can be driven like the real thing, and distort like the real thing. Astounding!

Awesome!!!!!
As soon as you insert them the tone just gets better, they sound extremely close to the original! Definitely a good buy!

Excellent Emulation
If you know the hardware then you know what these sound like. I use these on just about every session for both vocals and bass. I'm on an Apollo Quad and one instance uses about 4% of my UAD resources. Couldn't be happier with it.

Great collection!!
Of all of the mkii compressors, I use the LA-2A collection more often than the others. My go to compressor for vocals and drums. I really would not be happy without having this collection! They are truly spectacular!!

Legendary quality!
These are the most precise LA-2A emulation plugins. So glad UA even added the original LA-2 version. The sonic impact is astounding!

saved the sound for future generations...
Ya , now dig ...
Back in the cave man days , the 70's , Mastering Studios & Recording studios were throwing Fairchilds in the dumpster .. I was dragging them out of the closet ...
I am a long term fan of the Fairchild ... UA must have copied some Allen Sides units because these sound great & Real..... not all old compressors sound right anymore
and UAD seems to have saved the sound...
that's it,

It's all that!
A lot of great things have been said and it's all true and said a million times.
Only thing I might add is that being a novice mixer with a band (and my own electronic music aspirations), this pack was exactly what I needed. So simple it's almost braindead - you simply can't get it wrong and that's why I now get perfect vocal compression all the time.
I still haven't had time to test them on anything but vocals, but I'm gonna 'cause I'm a bit unsure of their actual differences. For now I just blindly reach for the LA-2 for its strange and delicious powers to make me (me!) sound good :-)

Studer on everything
I took the chance (read: put down the not insignificant amount of cash) and bought the Studer/Ampex bundle because I dig the idea of tape saturation although I've never recorded to tape.
Now I've been using it on all tracks in my band's 10 song post-death metal project and I am very happy with it! It helps tie the tracks of each song together for a consistent expression. It gives the snare great fullness, rounds off the harsh edges of the higain guitars and makes the vocals sound just very pleasing. Bass and kick also gets a go, but I'm still learning to avoid adding too much lowend, it seems it adds up fast. Eats DSP but it's fun to do an all-Studer 'first mix' and then bounce the 'Studered' tracks, and go on to round two (eq, comp etc.)

First I was cross...
....cause I thought, great, why don't I get an upgrade....
But then I demoed it and I have to say that for the first time,
I really had the impression that a plugin is sounding truly analogue.
Amazing piece of digital craftmanship! Thank you!

Same goes for the La2a-Collection.
Amazing piece of digital craftmanship! Thank you. xxx XD

Reverb above all others
The depth and character produced by the Lexicon 224 is unrivialed by any other reverb that I have used.

I can't live without it
To be honest? There are outside a lot of native alternatives of classic gear emulations, every day a new better than the others, and native means more portability/less problems, but this astounding plugin is the real reason why I still work with the UAD dsp system.
The real only alternative is a real Studer Tape recorder!
Period.

It worth, but...
This update is better sounding than the legacy Pultec, so I think it worth, although is subtle on extreme bands and settings.
I use this for the voice or the main instrument, then the legacy version for the rest, to spare DSP power.
My big disappointment is that the price for an update (because, basically, this is!) is too expensive for the legacy owners.
So I had to wait for the best combination of promotional voucher and discount period.
Very bad policy from UAD, IMO, for an average of expensive plugins and updates too...

Real or Plug???
The best PULTEC PLUG ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

Great sound
These sound great. UA has really nailed the feel and character of the hardware 1176. Love it on guitars, bass, and kick; it shines on nearly everything. Great buy!

Bravo !!!
