Good coompressor (only in a sale)
I really enjoy the wide application of the compressor. The DSP impact is 28% which makes very expensive on my UAD2 quad. It's nice on parallel usage on the individual drum track. Due to a failing uad2 OCT PCI card, I'm currently limited to really small setups. The biggest drawback is the default UAD price.

serious Wow!!!...no compressor collection should be without..
i patched these up on a mic > 175B > 176 > vertigo just runing minimal transient shaping brick >ZOH-MAUG-DUDE, speechless really.....the infinitely variable A/R times, combined with the way they react to and so on the sound...and then you can even tweak the texture beyond that.... can also be very subtle tube/trans richness that is very clean and punchy, but so flexible beyond that.

I got this for free as a thanks from UA for something else I bought- so far it’s been great to throw on for a guitar effect, or to make a mono synth bass into a beautiful swimmy stereo synth.

While I can't compare this to the hardware unit, I think what's so great about the Avalon's sound is it's clear and smooth preamp sound, and the "energy" and "movement" of the compressor - it has a lot of character, and this certainly captures that. It makes sense to me why the Avalon is considered a go-to for rap and pop vocals, it has a very strong and BIG sound - and the EQ on this is also brilliantly smooth. This is truly an amazing and beautiful sounding plug-in.
