OMG!!!
No one told me that the 1176 was the lesser, solid-state descendent of the 176. I had no idea. This compressor just floors me every time. It’s an automatic awesomeriser. Drums, bass, vocals... stick a fork in it, we’re done!

The LA-2 alone is worth the price of entry!
The LA-2A is a well known compression staple - and it’s so smooth, but wow is the LA-2 a tone machine. I don’t want to resort to hyperbole, but I’ve yet to put it on an acoustic instrument and be disappointed.

If there's a difference between the plug-in and the hardware...
... I can't hear it. I worked with the real Avalon for ages and now, after setting a professional home studio (with less available space), I decided to swap some tools with their "virtual" versions. I'm very happy with this one. Maybe a test could spot differences but normal use and feeling are absolutely the same.

Glitchy and Disappointing
I had high hopes for this thing, but it's extremely glitchy, with notes randomly cutting out and not much in the way of control. Definitely not worth the money.

Mojo Compressor
Both of these compressors are fantastic; kinda like the 1176's but with more mojo! I recommend staging them with a gain plugin in the slot before to hit that sweet spot. The 175B is great but I do like the ratio options on the 176, just allows how much you wanna compress your signal. You can also mash the front end for some cool tones too.

Just good in the current times
I believe universal audio can do better than that If they rework on those plugin models today. They own the name so it can be better

The presets are fantastic. I have an original Boss CE-1, and man this plugin is good!

Brigade Chorus Pedal.
I had the original BOSS CE-1 Chorus Ensemble back in the 80's, given to me by Gary Moore, after which I used it at live shows for years. Sadly, it was stolen, and I've never found another. However, this plugin is the Boss (pun intended). Warm, and authentic. What's not to like?

Awesome tool/compressor
This thing sounds great for rap vocals! only reason why its not a 5 star rating is because the gui is tiny af!

Exactly what I wanted
This thing goes at the top of every track in my mix. It does the thing.
