API Vision Channel Strip
I mainly use this plugin on vocoded vocals and sounds. It seems to bring out the airiness of them. I love it!

Works as advertised
You'll need very little compressor experience getting this one to sound good on all sorts of sounds, not just bass. One of my simple but powerful favorites.

This is a good plugin
I don't use it much. There were time when I was low on DSP and the low DSP Oxide Tape Recorder was the right choice for the job. Really good emulator for sure!

Classic 1176 sound
I love the sound of these compressors. I keep them on my vocal busses and guitars!

It’s good but not what I expected.
I had really high hopes for this plugin but it didn’t live up to my expectations. Whilst it wasn’t what I expected when recording vocals, it was very good recording bass guitar and added some beautiful tube-sim warmth that I now prefer to the Ampeg plugins that I have.
The same warmth just didn’t work on my last vocal session. I found it “muddy” and it seriously lacked gain. I will try it again at some point. I ended up using the SSL strip in unison and this was much better for me.

Heavy on DSP
Well, it sounds very nice I think. And it's easy to use. Though they could have mentioned that it's really heavy on the DSP/CPU. Maybe I was a bit naive there but anyway. With my old-ish mac and Twin Duo it's tough to use, I can only run one instance of it at a time.

Multipurpose and modern
I bought this plugin in 2013, and the more I record, the more I use it.
I find the preamp usable on a lot of source, and driving the input hard works also in many many case. Also excellent for some distorted colors applications.
The filters and the gate/exp, are absolutely stunning. Fastest gate I have ever use. Most of the time I don't appreciate the gate sound of most plugins, cause it kills the attack. But the API goes so fast, the sound is very very clean.
I don't use the compressor that much, only for light limitations while recording, drums buss for side chain compression or vocals for a discrete compression.
The EQ section is different from the classic API 550, less colored, and more "HIFI" modern sounding. If you want the vintage vibe, that's not the right EQ for you. This one is "cleaner".
Lighter on DSP than the 2 Neve or SSL, another important point.

I have no better compressor then the 1176 AE. It work amazing on vocals, drums, guitars...it work amazing on everything. It sounds like hardware.

I only have it for few weeks now but I can't imagine my overheads or masterbus without it.
Even with minimal GR this thing gets you to the next level with your audio only passing through it. The real fun begins when you engage more compression...

Wow!
Being very much a beginner, I have been struggling with my heavy nukindofmetal Kemper emulated Gitarr sounds in the Cubase-mi for some time, though, with little success. In desperation. I decided to try the Fairchild (having tried many other alternatives), With little expectation, I might add. Suddenly, and to my surprise, it just sounded brilliant, after some tinkering with the controls, and the headroom option made it a breeze to adjust levels without affecting other parameters. The unpleasant harshness of the guitars was gone, while the aggressiveness of the sound remained. Thus, thank you UA for creating this Plugin, and indeed, adding this plug-in into the bundle that came with Apollo MKII after the actual purchase.

Just wow
This is the best Chorus FX I have ever used so far.
So far I've used it on vocal FX tracks, bass guitar, synths, vocal synths, and what it does both in mono and stereo is incredible, I love the interface, so simple yet the results are so huge.
