Astounding!
My MIDI control setup is a bit different from most. I use Midi Guitar 2, which doesn't require any hardware. It picks up polyphonic guitar notes and converts them to MIDI in real-time with very low latency. While there are touch sensitivity issues with this plugin, the Ravel instrument handles them better than any other I've used. Its sound character is exceptional, capturing the wooden key and pedal sounds beautifully. This instrument leaves me excited about the future of modeled instruments.

Very natural sound
A lot of pianos have excessive reverb giving a false sense of nice but the ravel is quite natural sounding and the tones are great. I haven’t seen a preset saying 80’s reggae yet So that’s something to look forward to in a piano preset menu.

Another vendor gave me this plugin for free, but it was not good. I can always count on UA to produce a nice plugin! And I got it at great price with a UA coupon!

Changed Everything
Before purchasing this, I had only ever used stock compressors, and even then, I had only used them sparingly, as I had never noticed any significant effect apart from limiting. That all changed when I decided to take a chance on this plug-in and see why I had seen "1176" in just about every mixing discussion I'd ever heard or read. The very moment I hit play after throwing this on a vocal track, my entire perspective on compressors changed. The grit and presence I'd been hearing for years on countless records instantly revealed itself to me, and I was floored--absolutely beautiful tone. I have since gone on a deep dive into compressors and eq's, realizing what I had been missing out on for far too long.
I love this tone on my vocals; it fattens up my kick drum; pulls the grinding body of a cello to the forefront; brightens or delightfully swamps up a banjo; and with some more experimental instrumentation, it grabs onto sounds and noises you thought were lost in the recording and throws them back into the mix in a big, haunting way. I absolutely love this set of plugins; it literally made me a better producer by showing me why people call compressors "tone boxes," as the 1176 is all tone, color, and character.

It is, what it is, and that is great
Some say, this is not "modern" sounding. Some say, this is not drastic enough. Some say, this is not ....whatever.
My Ears tell me, this is a great Reverb. Once, you learn, how to use it, it makes your instruments shine and breathe, as if they were recorded in well....Capitol CIty ;-)

This is an exquisite plug in, and the explainer video is one of the best I've seen, revealing all the esoteric engineer tips and tricks. Absolutely transformational to a mix I'm working on now. Did anyone dream 20 years ago that we'd be 'recording' in places like this... um, yeah. I guess someone did. As a Bay Area native, I'd love to have you guys do Wally Heider's (now Hyde Street Studios) if you could close that deal. The room sounds on CSNY's Deja Vu album makes me weak in the knees. Same sound signature on lots of my fave records. Carry on, yall.

Sounds Good
This plugin sounds good, is easy to use, and is indeed usable. I am not going to give it a neck in neck comparison with the real hardware because I don't have enough experience with the real hardware. My only complaint, that during a session that goes for much more than an hour, the recorded tracks start doing random strange things (strange random notes and settings...I am using Cubase) and you either have to mute the track or reload the project that you are working on...fortunately the random changes don't save.
