The Workhorse Compressor
I've got many of the other superb compressors in the UAD-2 range but they all have some kind of distinct tonal character and best lend themselves to special situations. I needed a good general purpose workhorse for daily tracking chores that didn't colour the sound too much and this is the one everyone should choose to buy first.
Using it in multiple instances with the Apollo has given me the crisp yet controlled sound that I'm used to when tracking with a large console, without all the noise and cable woes that sometimes get in the way of a great take.
I love this one and hope UA model some of the more modern DBX units like the 160SL and 162SL.
Those and a Lexicon 480L are at the top of my wish list.
Love this stuff.

Like butta!
A software model of a digital piece of gear... Kinda seems like a recipe for making everything sound like crumpling tin foil! But... this is Universal Audio, and Lexicon. Two AMAZING companies with a rich heritage of making everything sound AMAZING! The 224 is no exception. I've used a multitude of reverb units over the years, from hardware to software and my favorite has always been the Lexicon digital or not, this thing has always had some of the smoothest decays I ever heard, and I really prefer it even over most of the convolution reverbs out there. I like my tools to add something to the mix, not just a room sound, but character, life. This plug in does that, it adds life whatever you use it on.

Great plugin!
The Manley Massive...I wanted this thing for a long time!
I love the precise touch, especially in the higher frequencies!
Ideal for mastering eq as well! One major downside though.
It's a very heavy plugin! It drains DSP % and since I have the UAD 2
Duo card, I run out of DSP space fast with this thing, causing my
DAW to lag intensely once the UAD DSP usage is at max!
So if that problem could be solved, then it's a 5 star plugin for me! :-)
Best wishes,
Nick

too much comp will kill you!!
when i use another 1176 plugin from another brand, i never reach this quality of emulation... less cpu and it will be perfect!!

great sounding plug, the only problem is that it requires too much dsp.

Heaven!
It takes about one second to fall in love with the 160!
I've spent some time with the original hardware, and this is as close as it gets.
Easy to work with and the sound is amazing.

WOW!!!
QUE EXQUISITA REVERB. MUY VERSATIL Y CON UNA TERMINACION MUY DELICADA, SIN PERDER NI UN SOLO POCO DE CALIDAD. SE DISTINGUE SOBRE CUALQUIER OTRA REVERB, MUY BUENA PARA TODO TIPO DE USO.

INCREIBLE
ESTE EQ ES INCREIBLE, MUY SUTIL. YO CREO QUE SI LLEGARAMOS Y MOVIERAMOS TODOS LOS PARAMETROS SONARIA BIEN IGUAL. MUY BUENO !

AMAZING
QUE GRAN PLUG-IN, REALMENTE ME ENCANTA EL COLOR QUE DEJA CUANDO LO PONEMOS AL FINAL DE LA MEZCLA, O EN UN AUX PARA LAS BATERIAS, REALMENTE QUEDE ASOMBRADO DEL SONIDO QUE LOGRA, MUY VERSATIL, 100% RECOMENDADO.

Manley Massive Pasive EQ
What I can say,the best Eq what I have check on Mastering chain, and also on some buses too,yes is CPU hungry but very soon will come out 64 bit for Mac users and this will be the greatest handly precision EQ.Thank you Uad Team

224 for Depth and Transpanrency
Not being familiar with the original 224 unit i was quite surprised at the detail and versatility of the plugin .The effect is transparent yet full bodied and the combination of preset algorithms and the well laid out sliders makes finding the ideal reverb easy and fun. Its fast becoming as critical as the EMTplate140 in all my mixes.

Two knobs from heaven
Needed the easyest compressor for my bass and more, my choice was the LA3A.
Nothing's more simple than this one, nothing's more efficient than this...
The sound's incredible.
My bass is really happy, and i'm too.
Just two knobs from heaven as the real one.
Really excellent!!!

Awesome
After trying the demo I had to buy it!! I just love it, and its now one of my favorite EQ. Even if I go extreme, it's alway smooth and musical. The only drawback: it needs a lot of processing power, but I guess that's what it takes to model this baby.

It's everywhere
I will be buyin another card so I can use this puppy all the way through my mixes. I purchased the duo to try things out and maxed it out on my second mix! I had it on everything in the mix, the tonal changes are like chunkin the puter out the door. I am an ol guy and have been around these machines all my life,, I am a believer!!! I had a tape simulator that I got from another company, since I got a hold of this one I have not even opened the other one up. The controls on this Studer give you the power to saturate to just the right amount. No Bull!! open the lid and play with it is all I gotta say.

Great 1176!!!
The old 1176 was great , With these new versions they seem to be more true to the original hardware units. Now I can't imagine how snares, guitars and vocals would sound without them in my mixes.
