Teletronix LA-2A Leveler Collection

A great analog mix in a digital world
I thought I would purchase the Studer A800 and not be concerned about the Ampex ART-102 plug-in, but I found that they work so beautiful together. They truly do both have different characteristics to record and do the final mix with. It is possible now to achieve the true analog feel in the digital atmosphere without fear of losing control of the natural sound. The Ampex ART-102 and the studer A800 is the way to go without doubt. I am excited and can't wait to begin to redo some of my old mixes with these great plug-ins. Thank you universal audio for phenomenal plug-ins that helps to mix with ease the smallness to the most complex arrangements.

Finally a plug-in that unites digital with analog
I've been in the music business for 40 years and I play over 10 instruments, I have recorded on the studer and the sound is unmatched. When I first entered into computer recording I was somewhat disappointed because of the harshness of the sound, there wasn't sufficient software to get that analog warmth into the recording. Universal audio has done a fantastic job in creating hardware to emulate analog in a digital atmosphere, now the plug-in of the studer is a revolutionary breakthrough. This plug-in has truly captured the studio sound and its characteristics, I am flabbergasted and excited about my mixes because now I can enter into the analog world in a digital atmosphere without hardware. thank you so much for great product.

I can't believe it.
I am surprised at the truth to be able to reproduce this density in plug in.

More Massive than Passive
I was reading lots of reviews of the Manley Massive online. It's not a cheap plugin so I really wanted to be sure before I bought it. I also enabled the trial and used it again and again on lots of tracks. What I realised was twofold: one, you can push this so hard and it still sounds good. And secondly, the reviews were right; once you start using it you want to keep it. So I bought it and I love it! Awesome plugin.

Cant live without it
Bought my octo card just so I could use this one and the 1176 collection. No regrets.

Perfect plugin
This and the Fatso are the two plugins I ALWAYS have on my mix bus.
I use it differently everytime - sometimes strongly saturated, sometimes just slightly glueing the mix together.
Sometimes I use this on a drum bus, warming up and rolling off some high end with the 7.5 or even 3.75 tape speed setting.
Even if you don't care about *that* tape sound from the past - this will give a certain direction and colour to your tracks and will help to achieve a cohesive album sound.
I haven't found any downsides yet. It's a little thirsty for some DSP-juice, but nothing too heavy and it's always worth it. Be sure to read the Manual, though, there's some interesting stuff buried in this 'machine'.

What a great update to the original plug.
I have owned the original LA-2A plugin for about 8-9 years, and also regularly work with the hardware unit. I have always been happy with the plugin. It is a great compressor, but it never really had the same character as the hardware equivalent. This update to the original is a huge step up. The tonal, and dynamic, varieties between the three emulations are fantastic. I really liked the original on vocals and bass, but I love the new emulations. They work for so many sources and they add great character. Thanks UA.

This Is Unbelieveable!
Bought this plug-in recently and was at the end stages of writing a production music album. I've been writing production music for the last 20 years and recorded in some amazing studios. All of which had the 224 in hardware form. Being a committed UAD user, I expected great things from this plug-in but this really is sublime. The sound is totally there and of course, at a fraction of the price of the original unit. And of course, you can run multiple instances of it. Which I did, with a sense of deep joy. Needless to say, I swopped out the convolution reverb I had been using with this baby and boy, did it make a difference.
Big thanks UAD, keep up the excellent work!

Great Unit
After living with it, alongside my only surviving hardware version of it, I pulled my old friend from the rack it lived in and retired it, The plug in version sounds and behaves just like it.
I tested it by duplicating a track, inserted the 160 hardware into one, the software 160 into the other, got the sound I wanted in the hardware 160,
Without listening, replicated all the knob positions in the plug in, and started switching from one to the other. it was 99% the same, the hardware 160 was a little louder (about 2 dbs) once the levels were matched I demoed them to a client whom I know has good ears, he could not tell them apart, then I had him switch channels for me, I could not tell them apart. Enough said.

Fat sounds. The real deal.
Could not be happier with the sound of this collection. A MUST HAVE for UAD owners.

Genius
Bring life back to music!
that's what I would say about this, run whatever into it and you get a part of historic sound memories coming up to your ears.

Superb plugin, gets a lot of use.
I'm lucky enough to have done an A/B test between a vintage silver LA-2A and this plugin. While there IS a slight character difference, I fail to see how that great piece of gear could be emulated better than this.

A big WOW!!
I've been using the original LA-2A for over ten years, and a vintage hardware unit before. The Classic Leveler Collection is very simply, stellar! Both are automobiles, but a Ferrari gets us a little more excited than a Chevy Malibu. I think this is an apt comparison between the original LA-2A and the new collection. The detail, nuance, and sonic qualities are stunning.

Behold The God of Reverbs!!!
The 224 has been the staple of my mixxes since the days I use to cut tape. I love it sounds the same and feels just as good!
