Manley® Massive Passive EQ
I didn't belive all these recomendations etc.
I tried it few days ago, and what's the result?
I was so amazed after few tweaks it's just pure perfection and "lost puzzle" in my project studio.
Now I got it :)
This EQ is one of these plugins you should get the UAD.
If you have money for that and you thinking about buying this plug.. Don't waste your time. BUY IT!!!

Best plugin emulation of the 1176 to my ears!
These are definitely the best plugin emulation of the 1176 to my ears. I love the texture and color they add to a track.

Value for money.
Value for money. Excellent plug in! Takes all the unwanted highs and mid highs out for me every time, adding the vog plug in with the pultec passive eq is magic.

Wow! 'Real' and surprisingly flexible
You've come a long way baby!
Yes, the original Fairchild had decent curves, but I always knew it lacked the transformer & tube modeling (how can that many tubes and transformers be modeled without taking a DSP chip out?).
Now, with the extra power available, UA has gone back and captured the 'grit, warts and all' of this behemoth. As others pointed out, the 660 is a different beast than the 670; more aggressive and grimy. Another reason not to complain if you think you are being ripped off by a re-modeled plug-in.
On every survey I've done for UA, I always pick the option of updated pug-ins and wet/dry control. UA has answered both of these in one go, with outstanding results for this one. Sounds 'real' & surprisingly flexible.

Fairchild Tube Limiter Collection - Very decent plugin.
Very interesting plugin. Unlike the old version has some differences: 1. Has a more critical attitude to the level of the input signal 2. Button "HR" makes magical things with source 3. Compression itself works very properly, without undue influences. Plugin deserves to be in the collection.

Wow! Very useful and impressive
I've owned the previous Fairchild emulation ever since the UAD-1 days and honestly, I rarely used it. Upon seeing the re-issue, I wondered if the improvement would be as huge as the 1176 and LA-2A Collections (which see use every mix). In short- it is!
I started with a large-format rock mix. I tried it on the lead vocals, which had light tracking compression provided by an 1176. I tried an LA-2A first, but it wasn't responding in the way I liked. Then I tried the 660 and it was spot-on. The way this thing grabs is almost unreal. When pushed hard, it does lose some life, but that is what compression does! After dialing it back a bit, I had my lead vocal DONE. Simple! I also tried it on bass (buss) at my next mix session and it kills....

This is the bomb dot com
Seriously though, wow! I demoed this out of curiousity when trying to decide how to use my "custom bundle" upgrade offer that come with the Apollo. I really didn't expect to be blown away by an EQ plugin but... I was wrong and after hearing what is possible when putting this on your stereo mix bus, there was no turning back!
The thing I love about it is that it responds differently and, I think, more intuitively than every other EQ I've used. I like to mix jazz. The MMP allows you to bump up the bass in a tight, non-boomy way, cut out some low-mid mushiness without tearing out the heart of the track, bring out some life and sparkle in the cymbals around 6k without ruining the attack of the other instruments, all the settings sound great.

Favorite Reverb Plugin
This is definitely my favorite reverb plugin now. I just demoed it recently, with a suspecting hunch that I wouldn't be able to live without it afterwards. I was right!
This is by far the most lush, flexible, and just plain awesome reverb plugin I've ever come across. It is in a different league altogether than the native plugins I was working with before from competing companies.
I love the fact that you can get a subtle verb with short or medium room-sound trails and a dark sound for jazz tracks, or go all out and get some chorusing long extended bright reverb trails going and recreate sounds from Blade Runner on your synths with the same plugin and mix to taste!
Incredible tool, amazing sound, 5 stars.

This is incredible
The API Vision Channel Strip is really an amazing tool for audio work. I am so impressed with how everything in this processing chain works together to make a track sound great.
The preamp is a cool feature, and I'm sure it does impart something sonically onto the track since UA claims this, but it's not exactly the most ear-catching part of the plugin. I do like it, though, because of it's ability to function simply as an input gain control.
The HP and LP sweep filters are so well programmed, it is very easy to get rid of booming noise in the low end or shave off some unwanted sizzle from the top of a track. Killer.
Compressor is amazing!! Sounds beautiful on drums, bass, piano, anything!! And I LOVE The EQ, it's perfect.

Nice!
Schön einzusetzen, universal auf alle Instrumente oder der Stimme. Als Resultat erhält der User eine dezente Seligkeit auf dem Signal. Allerdings sehr Ressourcenhungrig!

First Impression? Seems that plugs are getting better!
I haven't bought UAD plugs for a very long time, for serious reasons about the UA business model (plug ins are getting way too exp.). I did some real time FFT measuring of the mkII. They ad some nice harmonics in the lower frequency range- 100 hz and below. Tried the blue stripe on vocals. I can put tons of reduction on it and it sounds very good. They have way more character as the old version. You could improve the GUI e.g. black buttons on a dark blue ground? I still don't throw my HW out of the window. Improve the usability (mouse use)! Sometimes its tricky to find the right setting. It would make a great bundle perfect! PS: I also was impressed by the TAPE-SIMS but for a plug-in too much $..

AWESOME!!!
When there's no time to mess around, and you have to deliver the product, you'll want to stick with this baby :). So far I've used it on parts of drum kits, bass (usually behind 1176se), and vocals. Thank you UAD, for this great compressor!

The most instantaneously gratifying plug-in I've heard!
For analog tape lovers, young & old, this is the best thing that's happened to digital since Radar. Redemption at last, it's 1980 again.
It doesn't matter if you're too young to have ever recorded with tape, or know the difference in the smell & character of Ampex 456 & Scotch 250, or have ever edited with a China Marker & a razor blade…
This is what tape sounds like. I use it on every session.
If you've just purchased this, try the Chuck Ainlay "Saturated Snare Edge" & listen to the sound change as you raise the master fader. Remember where you like the sound based on the VU meter. It's a good starting point & a good way to educate yourself on the effects of tape saturation. Don't be afraid to go into the red!

Loving them both
The 660 and the 670 both sound "creamy" to my ears, and the included presets are very interesting, informative, and great starting places for my uses. So far, I've used them on lead vocals and bass guitar, but I'm sure there will be more over time.
W. Dorell
plus and minus...
670 is a little more grabby, less subtle, then original version, at similar reduction 'levels', at least.
not sure yet if it's much of an improvement.
but mix knob and low high pass detection is cool.
i think original fairchild plugin is a great tool.
especially on the mix bus.

Fantastic for post on Dialog
Just picked up this collection.
Added the 660 my dialog chain. Loaded up the "Chesty vocals" preset and tweaked it a bit. And it does something very nice to the dialog. Smoothing of the edge and adding a nice warmth and depth to production dialog tracks.
I have a. Show with particularly midrange, bitey dialog. And this weeks mix sounded much much more pleasing.
Well worth the money.
