My go to reverb
Lovely warm reverb that is easy to access and do not feel dominant, but still present. Favorite reverb in my studio setup.

Grown Man — Cried Like A Baby!
Having owned the predecessor AG-440C, I missed the warmth and analog 'glue' in all my 24/88 ITB mixes. I kept complaining to my mixing/mastering guy about the brittle sound—a bit too clean & sterile.
I've had this plug for less than a day and plopped it into the first slot of a finished mix. (Slot 2 contains Ozone 5.)
I started going through the presets and tears came to my eyes—tears of joy... Hell, I cried like a baby!
I instantly heard a radio-ready master.
My problem now is deciding which finished sound is right for each Golden Master—and I probably have to remaster several projects I've put to bed. It'll be worth it!
And I'm doing this on a MacBook Pro.
Damn impressive UAD and thank you AMPEX for partnering up!

Cn't believe it's a plug-in!
I recently got into the UAD product line with a Quad Custom card. The first plugs I tried were the LA-2A collection.
These really are amazing!
I've used a lot of hardware outboard compression, and I have a couple of racks full in my studio, so I was very keen to see how these plugs would hold their own against my valve outboard. I have to say I was very impressed. When patching in real analogue hardware, often the sound just gets 'better' or 'bigger' before you even start tweaking the settings, and the same is true of these LA-2As. When a-b'ing between a UAD LA-2A on one channel and a real analogue Retro Instruments 176 on the other, the comparison was quite stunning - the software really held its own!!
A must buy!

Stunning ...
... and subtle; I like the Studer much more than the Ampex.
Why? Its more versatile .. great plugin

Character!
Each version of the LA-2A on offer has it's own unique character, which work well in different scenarios. One thing remains consistent throughout - they all sound awesome. I tend to use for dynamic levelling as something towards the end of a chain. I can get a lot of level whilst still maintaining punch and transients. Gives a lot of weight and depth as well. A great all rounder for dynamics!

Using this on everything!
This is perhaps my go to plug-in now. Vocals, drums, stereo mix, sound design. It's simply the best sounding EQ I've ever used in the box. You can balance a mix effortlessly. I've used my emulations of the Pultec - this one is by far the best out there short of having it hardware. Outstanding!

Sounds just like the hardware
No joke, I'm amazed by how much this sounds exactly like a 160VU. It doesn't get any better on drums than this, and it even does that gritty thing, I mean I just don't understand how they got this plugin so close to the actual piece of gear. It makes no sense to buy one, honestly I don't say things like that, but I would be lying if I said otherwise. What is nice, use multiple instances, there's no interference noise, and like I said, it's just like the hardware. You can use it on just about anything and it will makes things just sit right in the mix. Not the sexiest compressor, but one of the best UAD has for drums and everything else.

1176 Classic Collection
Well, I try not to review anything until some time has passed so I'm more open to the reality of whether it's really doing what I originally expected. That said, this plugin bundle is exactly what it claims. I got it specifically because I had some vocal tracks that I was having trouble getting to sit right in the mix for an album I was mixing. I knew what needed to be done. I needed the hi-mid push and rock solid limiting that an 1176 gives when you put the ratio at 12:1, attack on 6, release on 7 and give 5-7db of gain reduction. I've used 1176's and Purple MC-77 hardware and this plugin didn't dissappoint. I tried all 3 and the E version was what I was looking for. It did the job and allowed me to move forward with the mixing process.

Classic Sound, Modern Application
This is the real thing. Sorry to any old-school "purists" out there who will nickel and dime every single subjective sonic nuance of this plug-in against the original hardware, but the argument is futile... It simply "does the job" of the 224 without any of the headache, troubleshooting, or inefficiency of the original. Infinite preset management/recall, writable automation and real-time controllable interface... If you find yourself blaming this plug-in for your mix-related reverb woes, you're either A) using the wrong setting, or B) using the wrong device altogether for the application. Couldn't be happier, and thank you UA for saving me the time, money, rackspace and hassle of the hardware.

Heavy weight hitter
Goes on just about every channel. Look no further. I use this most of the time, if I need a warmer vibe, I go with the Neve 88RS. Great on drums, vocals, bass, guitars, everything. Great to use, easy to understand, decent presets to get you pointed in the right direction.

Massive and a Swizz-army knife
When you are done with a mix and your clients are happy there is still one more thing you can do, slap the Massive Passive on the guitarbus, add some 3khz and bam! Agressive upfront wide guitars to compete in the loudness war without compression. I just love this EQ!

A 20/20 Plug-in
Buying this is like buying a pair of glasses for your audio!
To date, this is the best plug that I've ever used. I've been through all the Waves worth mentioning, Brainworx, other UAD ones, Native instruments, etc…, and none of them compare to the "it just works" aspect that this plug offers.
The preamp dials in your amount of distortion. The filters provide just enough to cut (or even add side chain!). The compressor, with its four different combinations, is very doable on nearly every source — if not perfect. It can do punch you in the gut very easily or even be very transparent — very adjustable and versatile. The expander can be a pretty neat creative tool; try it on drums! Great EQ!
Though it's a channel strip, try it on all buses!
