It's like...
Imagine looking at the highest quality LCD, HD TV, with pristine colour and sharpness (which I'm comparing to digital sound), then imagine looking out of your window - that's what the 102 is like. When the settings are set right for your particular music, this plugin adds an analogue 3D depth which transcends description. I already use a Dangerous Music D-Box, and this takes things to another level.
This is smooth, and has a sound which draws one's ear in.
I scoured the net for info and opinions due to natural hesitation because of the price. Then I tried it out in demo, and only needed a day. Demo it for yourself... for any genre. I'm happy I got it on sale, but probably would have splurged.
Simply, yes.

The EQ
What can I say? This the EQ I use on all my most important tracks in every project I ever do. And often an instance on the master as well. This is perfect for the shaping and kneading to get a sound to have the right shape, right character. Very transparent. Love the parallel setup. Give it a bit of extra headroom if the magic isn't happening. Recommended.

Even better than the original!
I thought the original was good, but like the 1176 and LA2A collection, they stepped it up again.

The Best Rell to Rell Plug-in!!!!!!!
Enjoyed! Really he has a sound recorder Amplex. Sound is soft, prefect for mastering!

Not just for mastering!
Yes, the Ampex ATR-102 adds killer flavor to your mixes but I didn't realize how versatile and amazing it sounds on vocals.the Tape Delay feature is absolutely amazing. If you're looking for that Lennon sound, this is the plugin you want to get. Personally I would wait till it goes on sale because spending 350 on a plugin can be hard to justify but that's just me. At first I liked the Studer A800 better out of the two but the more I use the 102, the more I love it. Great plugin

Ampex ATR-102
did the work, the music and songs for the musical performance. Ampex ATR-102 used on the master in the demo mode. prepared material and made mixing with this Brilliant. later invited me to show the musical theater. I was amazed at the sound of my past work so sounded. I do not believe there is not that possible? one miracle plugin and this pattern of sound!

Lexicon 224 sounds fantastic
This reverb plugin has been worth every penny, even in just the first few weeks of use. It's possible to create a rich array of reverberation sounds, from short and subtle to long, deep, and immersive. It is now my go-to reverb for monitoring -- and often for tracking -- my electric guitar. Although I have not had the opportunity to use the hardware version and make that comparison, I have used a number of high end hardware and software reverbs, and this one definitely shines among the group. It's been great as well for matching recorded ADR to appropriate spaces for film scenes, and for creative purposes in sound design.

LA-2AmkII - amazing software
This is for the NEW mkII LA-2A (I really wish UA would separate the reviews as it really clouds people's opinions)
anyway...
amazing plugin. I A/B'd my hardware (old) LA-2A and tried to get the new plugins to cancel out with the hardware. just using the amplifier stages (no peak reduction) there was some cancellation but nowhere near 100%... not surprising though, different tubes, components, etc. there was a LOT of reduction though showing that the circuits are definitely similar and in the same family. Things got really interesting when I added compression. The emulations and my hardware track almost 99% the same, even up to 10db of reduction, the attack, release, etc. were nearly identical. Pretty impressive.

dbx 160 - classic smack!
I love this compressor. Has that classic dbx smack on kick, snare, bass, etc. hope they give it the old mkII treatment soon (not because it's lacking anything - well, other than the GUI could be a bit bigger) but because it's one of my favorites and if were better... well, it would be better!
4 outta 5 as it's not the most versatile but I love it!

Love the Plug in
Its not the kind of plug-in that you work in solo mode for anything but checking the audio file content. This plug in is very subtle and needs to be run through its paces within the mix. Listen very carefully, the value is in the nuance!
I would not recommend using this plug in to morph a master bus, just give it that little last something after your compression that thickens the bus

A Very Useful Tool. The Manley Massive Passive EQ
I use this unit when mastering but have occasionally used the stereo eq version on synth signals. For mastering I find the unit works best in the signal chain after a stereo equalizer which I use as a surgical tool to address problematic frequencies. This way, it functions as the cream on the cake, and it cetainly excels in that role. I really feel quite privileged to have such a high-end tool available to me at a fraction of the cost of a hardware unit. Simon Hawkins, Stockholm, Sweden.

Overall, UAD Ain't DMG
If you want the subtle harmonics ... ohhh and noise and aliasing (yeuk!) that is generated once you use a few instances of these plugins within your mix, then buy the Pultec Passive EQ Collection.
If you want the Pultecs without the noise, without the aliasing, without the frequency limitations, and packaged into a fully-customisable EQ with flawless sound and an amazing top end ... buy DMG's Equilibrium.
Then retire your UAD Millennia too...
