Ampex tape machine
I've got a few tape emulations this one adds the magic I like , I'm not a pro audio engineer but this seems to add the weight and depth that people rave about, makes my mixes sound better which is good enough for me.

not great
gain stage is a mess, sound is brittle, not a lot of settings (if the sound was great, wouldn't need but...) and no DSP. When compared to other native brands on pricing/features/sound, I can only give it one star.

very good!!!
finally in the native version, although I have a UAD card, but in native mode it's super, less load on the card. 10 dollars is not a pity

Super versatile
This plug-in is super versatile and works on everything including mastering. We use it on almost everything we record. It’s really the only compressor you need if you only want one! An absolute must for anyone recording at home.

Good for beginners
For beginners, I would give this four stars because it’s everything they need to get a decent sounding vocal. but for intermediate to advanced producers, it leaves a lot to be desired. For starters the deesser is weak. This is so strange because you would think Universal Audio would have the best Deeser around given their access to all of the deesser technology from their plug-ins. The other modules are good for the most part, although the EQ section is very restrictive, as it is in all types of plug-ins like this. For the life of me, I don’t understand it. Free the EQ! I’ll tell you what would be truly awesome. if UAD made a plug-in like this as a studio rack like waves has and each module was one of their emulation
plug-ins. That would be truly awesome. Anyway, I also cannot give this five stars given the price point. This is a $50 plug-in. I don’t know how they are coming up with $200, let alone $400. But evidently, they are targeting a certain audience. overall, it’s a decent product for beginners albeit overpriced

Almost
Beautiful interface. But the gain staging is a mess. No dB value indicator on the in/out faders. The amp itself goes straight from thin (1-3 on the volume knob) to dirty on anything above that. You can get it cleaner by turning down the input volume but then the Out volume at max is still too low (this is all following the UAD recommended settings of no gain on the Apollo input channel, and plugin Input set to Hi-Z). Overall the sound is good but thin and brittle if you're using single coil (audible in the demo video). Does not have the warmth and bass definition of the real thing. Hopefully updates will address some of this.

Wonderful chimey tones!
Already have the Ruby '63 pedal and the ability to have those exact sounds from a plugin were too hard to resist. In my opinion Ruby '63 has more life and feel to the sound than any other competitor Vox style amp sim I've tried, hardware or software... The buy 3 deal made Lion & Dream plugins a solid option too and both are equally excellent. I hope the Woodrow '55 comes soon, as that's now the missing piece in my DAW

OMG!! BY FAR THE BEST VOCAL PLUGIN I'VE EVER TRIED!!
i have tried many vocal plugins in my time and always wanted to buy the Avalon VT-737 Hardware but too pricey. I have never been so please with this plugin and best part are the preset for vocal in tracking and after recording. Love it!!

Pleasing tonality..very nice on the ears
I am a long time UAD customer and fan...they have done dreamwork for home studio enthusiasts like myself. But it is wonderful they keep coming up with excellent and exciting stuff.. I just heard this electric piano after i bought this upgrade yesterday. It is absolutely fabulous and i instantly fell in love with the sound quality and tone of this plugin. MAGIC to my ears and kudos to the creative people at UA!

Needs more features to compete with modern amp sims
I was thrilled to see this excellent pedal being ported over to a plugin. Unfortunately, I could not get a "sound" out of it after scrolling through many presets; then I realized I had to turn up the output ALL THE WAY to get this into the realm of actually hearing it. Seems like the output gain structure needs adjustment. Most importantly, it is lacking key features that have become standard among other amp sims, notably:
1. the ability to change which mic is on which speaker model/cab
2. the ability to change the angle and/or distance from the speaker
3. guitar pedals before the amp input
4. EQ post amp output
Comparing this to Softube Vintage Amp Room, Neural DSP's Morgan Amps, STL Tonality and STL Tonality Andy James AC-30 sims, it leaves a lot to be desired. Also, if it is called Ruby, shouldn't the panel be Candy Apple Red?
