Simplemente impresionante.
Simplemente impresionante.

Best and favorite plugin of all time
To me, a great sounding EQ is the most valuable tool a mix engineer has. And to have this kind of sound at your fingertips in a plugin form is really unbelievable. The same air and magic that you get from the real box, is right here. And that same excitement you get when using the real thing, is exactly what I feel every time I turn these knobs. UA is the greatest set of plugins, and this one wins in my book.

Completes my sounds!
I love this API channel. What it does to rock guitars is amazing. Between this and my UAD neve 1073, I have all the color while tracking that I want. Even the presets are are great for a starting point.

amazing control
Extremely versitle. Overbiasing and sync eq. Just amazing that such a complex network of electronics can be not only modeled but controlled via a gui. Wow

My new "go to" EQ
For those of us that will never even in a million years be able to afford the hardware version of this plugin, it is so worth every penny. Freakishly transparent and clearer than Lasik. Another UA win here.
Still waiting on higher image resolutions for UAD plugins for those of us with 5K screens. But as long as they sound good I'll keep dealing with the blurriness.

A perfect Plugin to fall in love with the UAD
it doesn't only remind me the 'sound' of the Pultec. But the sounds remind like going through a Pultec. That's what a great emulation is all about! There are some plugins that just recreate the sonics of the unit. This one recreates what the unit does to the source. It has some pultec 'flavor' if you like, but not too much.
And what I personally love is that It's also very easy to know when you don't need it on an instrument (like with the analogue one), one second and you're like.. 'no, this sound needs something else in this mix!" so you're not over-using it. Very important.

So full of life!
`This compressor is incredible. when A/B'd with Waves CLA-3A, it just has so much more energy and harmonics to it. You can smash your vocals or guitars through it and it has a slight mid boost that lets them sit on top of the mix nicely. One of my favourites!

DBX 160
I've always used Waves plug ins,but after using the UAD plug ins, I won't go back. The DBX 160 was one of the selling points for me. It does what it's was supposed to do. It has that analog weight that all other plug ins fail to capture, including the Slate plug ins. The DBX 160 is a plug in that I use when I want to control transients. Put this baby on synths to tame and warm, bass guitar to fattened and control, and backround vox to blend. It's an incredible tool to have in your tool box. My one complaint and why I gave 4 stars instead of 5, is that they have yet to update the plug in. It's so small that it looks like a cheap stock plug in. But make no mistake. The sound is all there.

Too long!
I've missed this compressor for too long! I invested in other UAD plugins just because I had another native alternative for this one... Oh my! This one is miles ahead... A fantastic and classic sound!

Let's be honest
Ok lets be honest, in my case I don't use it like they say to... I prefer a clean mix verses the dirt that everyone is trying to recreate in there mix, so with that being said. I use this plugin very lightly just to bring a little more of the low-end out on the master, because it seems to get lost when mixing different projects. I enjoy the way it glues and gives a nice harmonic saturation to the record so check it out..

Maybe it will be great if you like its sound
For me, I can't seem to find the sweet spot on this plug in Mastering. No experience with the Hardware it's supposed to be emulating but notices It's not harsh even at extreme settings. On the flip side, sometimes you want to hear a distinctive improvement of the audio being ran through the unit. Maybe one day, plugs will evolve and we can have something really magical that comes with warmth and sound-stage that good hardware provides.

Is this worth getting into the UA2 ecosystem alone?
Is this worth getting into the UA2 ecosystem alone? Well it costs considerably less than the real thing, you can have many of them working at the same time, trying to fit multiple Studers in a studio, let alone a home setup is going to be painful in more ways than one.
And then there's the impression that I get that it just sounds RIGHT. Unlike a lot of tape emulations! I can't quite explain it, it's sometimes quite subtle differences, but long listening you just don't feel it's artificial, or an EFFECT. It's tape without the tape.

good old snap and punch
Speed, timing and snap like nothing else, typical good old API. Colour or not to taste and there you are. The EQ is the old no-nonsense goodness, just select those special frequencies and you're off to the races, no confusion here.
If you need incredible precision with EQing, well there's other digital tools for that, but for a lot of stuff, you can get away with the API EQ and it's very nice in a more neutral kind of way compared with it's contemporaries, which equals less problems from the start, a good base to build from, rather than having to notch out certain frequencies later on.

I can't mix without it
The Pulteq v2 lives on my 2buss. This plugin is one of the reasons I find it totally practical to mix ITB. This is one of the best models on the UAD platform by far.

I like IT!
I don't know why people say don't use it on the 2 buss. Some songs it works great on the 2 buss and some it does not. Main thing to tweak is the low end going through it. I have starting just putting it on a buss and dialing in how much I want of it on each individual instrument.

I Love It!!
Just a great compressor, simple to use and effective for gentle and smash it to bits compression. Nice for keeping things warm and organic sounding. Everyone should have one.

Great tape emulation
Impressed with this emulation. It can be used very subtly or can add a lot of colour and/or saturation. The library of presets is invaluable to start you off and showcase what the plugin is capable of. Quite different colour and more versatile than a competitor's plug in endorsed by Eddie Kramer - I am glad I have both as they are very different and suitable in different situations. I think for me the ATR102 will be used a lot more.

The Best EQ Plugin I've Ever Heard
I'm currently mixing my band's first EP, and as a relatively new owner of an Apollo interface, I've been having fun trying out some of UA's plugins. I demoed this unit on a track that was pretty much done, but needed something to really add the final touch. I threw this on my sub-master buss and was absolutely blown away by the difference. It was like night and day, like someone taking the blanket off of my speakers, you've heard all the sayings before, but I'd never first hand experienced a product that delivered the result. Excellent unit for mix buss processing and mastering. Do your self a favor and buy this plugin!
