Freaking Wicked Awesome!!!
Thank you UAD for the great sounding compressor. Mastering Engineer friend turned me onto this compressor. It's a sound. A beautiful sound and so many applications! It's a huge part of the sound I've been searching for.

These 1176 plugs sound great. The AE version is sweet for vocal treatment. These will get frequently used in my mixes.

Love it
I use this thing mostly as a sweetener, a little boost in the highs and lows on the EQP-1A and suddenly your sound goes from dull to gorgeous. This is a must have plug in for me now.

A Must for Vocals; Very Useful for Other Things as Well
The performance of this compressor for vocals alone is worth the price of admission. It is so transparent and effective. Now I can't imagine a vocal FX chain that doesn't include an LA-2A. It's performance on other sources is also very impressive. It is fast and transparent. I imagine it can be pushed hard to have a deliberate lack of transparency but I haven't experimented with that yet.

1176 is just awesome
I don't have a hardware unit to compare so I can't comment on its' accuracy but on the other hand I don't really care about that. I only care if it is useful and sounds good and it does. So far I've used it on bass and snare and it adds fatness. It can also be driven to get a warm distortion. Definitely one of the best software compressors I own.

These are absolutely the bb plugins I've ever used on vocals. Try them, you wont be disappointed.

Holy Smokes, and I thought the legacy 1176's were great...
I thought the Legacy 1176's sounded and worked great. I still do. The Classic collection plugins are even more amazing than the legacy versions. They are a bit CPU hungry, especially in respect to how useful they are and how many tracks I have been wanting to treat with them. Until I can swing for a satellite expansion for my Twin Duo, track freeze will and I will be the best of friends. Another home run from UAD, seriously.

My GO TO MASTERING EQ
Love how transparent this thing is. It's perfect for adding warmth on the bottom end and sheen on the top end during the mastering stage. It's also perfect for shaping your vocal buss. I just wish it wasn't so DSP hungry. I'm almost tempted to purchase a 2nd satellite to run more instances of this bad boy. This was a must have plugin after a brief demo period.

Amazing on vocals! Musically beautiful. Sounds more warm and rich compared to the legacy versions. Hands down the best emulation compared to other companies like Waves and T Racks...

ITS A BEAST !!!
I was skeptic after reading all the reviews. Especially of the ones who actually owned the hardware. But after using this plugin I'm sold. People need to realize (and im sure they do) there is one thing that hardware does that a plugin will prob never do and its due to the fact of the way the signal is processed. The difference is very subtle but at times very noticeable, by now people should be able to emulate that via other means and in a more economical way. The fact that this plugin is about 90-95% accurate to the hardware is good enough, you cant compare the price points and expect 100% accuracy. They will be putting everyone out of business! this plugin is nice and warm and does the job, you want analog, get some pre's and your in!

I tried a lot of eq, this one is by far the clearest one. Sounds really gentle on the ear and adds a lovely sheen. many times I did put on the 2-bus at the final stage of the mix and it really helps making the whole thing clearer.

Freaking awesome! Demo at your own risk (you WILL buy!)
I've been waiting patiently to get this plugin, and I finally had the opportunity (see funds lol) so I did. All I can say is WOW! I am so impressed by the sound that it imparts to the music. I should've gotten it sooner, but I went and got Slate VTM a while ago, and while I still think that's a good plugin, I did some comparisons to the UAD Ampex and it is so much closer to a real tape machine. You can hear the saturation when you hit the tape hard and the resulting sound is just like I remember back in the good old days when I used to overdrive tape. Beautiful sound, easy to use, and very deep if you want to get into the nuances and settings... Get it now! I'm going back to mixing!!!

When you figure this guy out, it takes great care of your mix. I haven't really found a home for it other than the mix buss though. But at a sale price I find major value on its position there.

I Love it :-)
I've already tested the hardware versus software and it was different - sure!
BUT the characteristic, the texture is very close. The sound isn't better or worse than the hardware.
I think the most important question is: Is it useful? Yes, indeed it's very useful! That's what's happen (i mean soundwise) when you turn the knobs is different compared to the hardware but not worse!!
All in all it's a very good sounding EQ. Even extreme settings sounding wonderful. Try it - buy it :-)

Analog and versatile
The UA top notch quality. It was one of my first purchase, always happy with those ones !
The sound is authentic, grainy, strong and it's so simple to use.
Incredible to have this gear ITB, so well modeled. Can't go wrong.

Excellent !
Excellent Compressor, compression on the point. The Fairchild plugin makes a beautiful coloring. The 670 is great for Mastering.
The Lat/Vert mode is very useful for nearly each signal. The legacy version is definitely far away from the remodeled Version. Great job !
