My Go To Compressor
The 1176 hardware units were always my "go to" compressor Now with the UAD platform, it's my "go to" plug-in! I use it everyday in my studio to bring out the character of my sounds. Great job Universal Audio!

Great and clean
A great compressor that don't color the sound to much. I can't say I have tried an compressor plug in, that can go mile for mile with this one.

Great for Bass and "In Your Face" Compression
This is a great plug to make the bass stand out in a mix, it gives it that in your face sound. The only plug in I have tried that comes close is Native Instruments V2 compressor. Really happy about this one

Kinda magic?
Hmm, is it kinda magic? I don't know. Somehow it is. I like the low end and the highs. I like the design. I like it on vocals and acoustic guitars. I like it on the 2 buss. Oh, ok...you get it. I like it.
The DSP performance is a pain in the ****. But compared to the price of the original hardware unit it's a wonderful deal (esp. on sale ;-) )

I'd use multiples of this everywhere if it weren't so DSP hungry! Still, the results are astounding so I use it where I can. I really like having a version for mixing, and a separate version for mastering. Really, really powerful tools.

Functionally DENSE
This in a unison channel has provided me with DAYS of exploration. There is so much that can be done with this plugin that I feel like I could use it every day for a year and find a different use each time. Thrilled to have this in my toolkit.

Spoiled for choice
UAD has given me so many flavors of tape and I find each to be really useful and great for explorative sound sculpting. This deck has found a happy partner in my Tom Oberheim Two Voice Pro. From chugging basses to twinkling tenor range sequences, this deck really allows for a high degree of sheen and shine. I can get each voice to settle down nicely in the mix with this. Great plugin.

I can always find a use for this
Be it degrading the signals a bit to achieve a more lo-fi grunge, to getting psychedelic with the wow & flutter, this tape recorder lives on my busses. I've always dreamt of having my own reel-to-reel, but this has filled my desires completely. I love that it can sound beat up and grimey, or pristine and warmth. I really appreciate the fine level of controls it has (for instance, being able to turn off noise/hum and recording more pristinely) and I've found this plugin greatly rewards experimentation.

An astonishing array of possibilities!
Using this with my modular synthesizer has unlocked tonal variations that I never new existed before now. Can be subtle to radical depending on how heavy a hand I use when mixing. Really pleased with this in my arsenal.

I was blown away with EMT 140 and put off getting the Lexicon unit. While the 140 still gets a workout this is making its way into just about every mix!!! THIS IS AMAZING!!!!! You will not get this kind of sound and versatility ANYWHERE else!!!!!

For the Drums
Very, very good on drum's track. Add depth and wide and sounds analog.
On clean guitar too, very beautiful analog sound.

Strongly recommended
Very happy with this plug in it can take your mix to the next level. I only use it in the mix track for mastering, Id like to use in buses too but, Its a Shame its high DSP consuming... I supose if you want quality you have to pay in any way...
