Better than i imagined!
I never bought the hardware unit over the years and only briefly used one on a session one time, but i tried this again and am hooked on its very unique ability to make a vocal sound like a million bucks!
Thanks so much for bringing this one to the stable.....Incredible.

A Real Reel 2 Reel !
This plugin rocks, its easily the best reel 2 reel plugin on the market with the authentic pumping effect and all the great settings simply fantastic. Just wish the DBX compressor sonded as goos as the Waves version and was as versatile as theres. Please UAD get this fixed and I will buy it instantly.
Thanks :)

Amazing vibrato!
While i do use the chorus, the vibrato is what I love about this plug in. So rich and thick - it's an aural milkshake!

Galaxy Tape Echo!
What a killer tape emulation! Already, I've used it to great effect on synth tracking - really glued the whole thing together nicely!

Distinctive sound
It is a one trick pony but does his trick very well.
Definitive not a clear modern sound, some people might call it analog.
I like it but don´t use it a lot because it gives easily too much character.

Dreamy, Creamy and Easy.
The EQP-1A always gets the most Spotlight out of these three plugins, and although its definitely one of the most flattering EQ's I have used. I feel that the MEQ needs to get special mention in this review. Most of the mixing difficulty comes from the Midrange. Terms like Boxy, Nasal, Muddy, Thick and strident all relate to a part of the mid range of the audio spectrum. So when it comes to these three EQ's, the EQP 1A sits on my master buss most of the time, but the MEQ tends to be one of the first options to deal with problematic midrange issues. Specifically with guitars and backing vocals.
The learning curve of the EQP1A took me a little while for it to become second nature, but once there all three of these became indispensable tools.

Punchy. Clear. Typically API.
This was my first purchase in UAD Land. The learning curve was straight forward and after getting used to the ergonomics of the device it became my default channel strip. When it comes to Electric Guitars and Drums, this channel strip really comes into its own. The fact that the Q of the EQ adjusts automatically to the gain allows you to save precious minutes which add up to a significant amount of time by the end of an album. It is what I would call an instant gratification strip.
The Dynamics section is as musical as you need it to be. I find a little goes a long, way with these guys. Very useful and taste full.
Great work UAD team, you guys smashed it. Again.

Old skool, old skool....
I have lent on this plug (...well, the previous incarnation anyway) for so many years now. I can't imagine a world without it.

BV saver...
It is great for so many different tasks but nothing rescues a weak backing vocal as quickly and easily this can...

Switched
The pedal is emulated so well in this plug-in version that I have official retired my original...

Believe the Hype - magnificent!
This is simply superb. Not only is the compressor perfect on vocals (do not worry about the fixed 3:1 ratio as it is spot on), the DeEsser does exactly what it should with no lisping artifacts and the Pultec inspired EQ is a touch of pure glitter on an already stunning channel strip that is simply a joy to use. Getting the vocals sounding and sitting properly in the mix has never been as simple (unless you had the original hardware unit of course)
