Amazing !
Absolutely blows my mind how good these LA-2A units sound. Been using them on a couple of dance/electronica tracks for vocals for a client. Very easy to set up and behave like the 'real thing' as near as I can tell - have been making music for over 30 years, never owned but have used the original gear many many moons ago.
At GBP 115 for all three 'versions' it's a total no-brainer - grab this bargain now !!

Is getting better and better
Wow! Many years ago I had the first generation UAD PCi Card using the Legacy version of LA-2A. I used it on almost every possible track. Now, with my new Apollo Twin USB, I thought I will give the new collection a try so I bought it right away. Yes, I know it costs a lot, but what a difference!!! Really love the Grey one, wich brings my voice to a new level. The combination of Unison 610 mic pre and LA-2A gets me the feeling of singing in a $10 million studio.

Absolutely great! Especially Athmosphere preset. Must have!

Game Changer
I've been reluctant to go from recording to 8 track Tape to completely digital setup, as I value the warmth and compression that tracking to Tape gives you. This plugin has finally persuaded me to take the leap. I honestly can't hear a difference between the Oxide plugin or real tape. In fact I might say that this plugin sounds warmer than my tape machine!

Great saturation
I've played around with Studer and Ampex plug-in before decides which one to buy. Well, in the end I've bought both. Studer A800 is the best to add lots of saturated colours on instruments and the mix itself. And i loved that retro sound that only tape machines give to the music.
Still I would love to see retina versions of these and all UAD plugins.

Best Tape plugin
Oh, boy! This is an incredible versatile tape emulation plugin! The sound character is amazing and you can have a lot of fun with the tape delay option. I think I have test the main tape emulation plugins available. Ampex ATR-102 is by far the best!

Superb EQ
I don't have the real thing, but this EQ plug-in is different from anything I have ever used. Clear and magical.
Like most of UAD plugins, the interface needs an update for better suit retina displays: everything is so small. I can hardly read the frequencies. But it has nothing to do with the sound.

Great Sounding Equalizer BUT....
For me (EQP-1A) there are many frequencies missing, It could be very flexible EQ for sound design.
Specifically low frequencies 20, 30, 60, 100 isn't really much. It could be expanded in digital domain especially...would be nice if UAD makes an update and add some more flexibility. There could be more frequency ranges to choose from what would make it very attractive product ;)
Other then that...Sounds great on anything!
Many thx :)

Brings the api to the bedroom.
Having spent some time with analog api gear I feel like this has captured the sound of analog api so much it's like having a mobile api rig.

Love the CCIR EQ setting
I love the way the CCIR EQ setting gives a vintage brightness to the tone. Along with the beautiful saturation I can get with it, I normally choose this over the 6 other tape plug-ins I own.

Musical, musical, musical.
Once you put this on your track, you will know that what I'm talking about.
Even if you're not good at tweeking parameters on the compressor, it will add nice warm harmonics on your music.
I've got 1176 and LA2A, and this fairchild will complete my collection of vintage compressors.

Simple to use and I dig!!!
I bought this set of plugins after trying it on the kik and Snare channels.
It solved the problem of getting the click of the Kik not to seem seperate from the Boof and I had been endlessly tweaking the channel previously to its purchase trying to get rid of that problem. The Snare had way more body and the snap was easily softened by it.
Like the 1176 collection has a different place to use it.
I used the prehistoric LA 2A on the Kik and a different one on the Vocals and likewise the snare.
I would say i am not a tweakhead but that would be a lie when in comes to the overall mix.
I don't want to get bogged down in endless tweaking of compressors, pedals or plugins. There's enough to do.
I dig It!!!

WOW! WOW! WOW!
I have used manley hardware in the studio many times its my "go to" for vocals because it imidiatley enhances the warmth of the voice. This plug-in is an amazing recreation of that. I cant tell the difference and it makes it so much easier! GREAT PRODUCT
.
I use this reverb before any other.
This reverb is great and gives you great control of the parameters of your reverb so you can easily get the sound your looking for. It immidiatley enhances you mix. I love it!

Yummy EQ
I've never worked with a real Pultec. I have used the UA Legacy and the Waves. Both of those are nice and give you a special experience but this update takes it into total realism. The best way I can describe it: when you add or cut a frequency, it never sounds bad. Even if you've chosen the wrong frequency. It just sounds like you've added that frequency. Especially 3k-5k range, with other EQs, you can ruin a vocal but this just gives you more presence. The highs are sweet and creamy and the lows are big. 'Nuff said - buy it.

allright though i need more time with it
after about 20 minutes trying it out i must say that i am not that impressed as with some of the other plugins, but perhaps i need to give it another go since it takes more experimenting with some of these than others

Hardware Vs Plugin...
Since I bought the pack UAD 1176, my Universal Audio 1176LN compressor (hardware) has been a little sad. It`s really amazing the work they have done with these plugins !!!

Super Plugin
I am a big compressor fan and although I like my hardware units of a different make, I really liked these plugins when I purchased them.
They have a sound and that is what I like. Each one of the three reacts differently and has its own best place of use.
So glad I bought them and in truth motivated me to go revisit mixes done before my purchase.
Not for the faint of heart though.

Still my favorite chorus!
I've tried all the Dim D emulations and some other similar choruses and I always come back to this one because it works so well in a mix. It doesn't give you that heavy wobbly effect that many choruses do, it works more as a widening effect and it can be used on lots of different sources.
I'll knock one point off because they didn't include a mix knob in the new version now that they had a chance to. It would make it so much easier to use.

Amazing
Great Channel Strip! i think its a must have... i use it on my vocal bus.. and add it an incredible colour!
great work guy of UA!
