Tons of mojo
This is one of UAD's best. I slept on this one for far too long. Have had it for a about a year now, and since then and now as well, every session gets multiple instances of this one. I'm generally not one to write reviews but saw that somehow this was sitting at two stars and that's such an inaccurate injustice that it's a crime, so had to write a proper review, since (I guess because it's native now, or there's some kind of glitch?) suddenly this plug only had one review, only two stars and did not even make any sense and talked only about the 1073 and 1084. Totally nonsensical review. Anyway - tons of character, depth and analog mojo, for guitars and anything you throw at it. Big, rich and aggressive in an ear pleasing, complimentary, musical way - not harsh. This one is a beauty.

Absolutely Stunning!
Magic. There is not a single thing about this plugin that isn't awesome. If you have a decent mix, you won't need much more than this to put out a polished master. This plugin is quite an accomplishment. I couldn't understand the reviews, but when I read I see that many people are complaining about other issues like subscriptions etc. As far as the plugin goes - 5 stars all the way.

Liquidy. Juicy. Angelic. Smooth. Dreamy.
It's great. Love it on vocals. Also found it can be great on lead electric guitar solos, and on saxophones and other "singy-type" instruments (e.g. synth leads, solo violin, smooth trumpet lines...).

What a beautiful product to Add to your sonic arsenal for a tiny bit of warmth on a bus or a blast of Bass and Air that will make you smile.
The presets are a great start but these are very easy to dial in plugins the.
I really like the Meq-5 on guitars and use both to give a final touch on my master channel.
Just a bit of boost and cut can go can make a big difference and even with our any boost or cut it’ll add that bit of analog sound inside your digital workspace! At first I was like cool a new plug-in but it just delivered with a few clicks I was amazed at how this made me smile!

Interesting to compare with Ocean Way Studios,Sound City Studios has much more instruments opptions and clear sounds to me.

Almost bought, then noticed it's Native-only -- it cannot be used for performance
I don't have a serious issue with native plugins in general but a speaker effect should be a UAD plugin. Example, if you're playing a guitar through a rotating speaker, you will play differently to experiment with and optimize the effect -- you can't do that with a native plugin (in most cases, practically speaking). For $200 USD, I can choose from an array of effects pedals that will do the same thing, and all of them will work on stage as well as in the studio.

The More I Use It, The More I Love It!
The more I use the API channel strip, the more I love it. It's an amazing emulation of the infamous API gear. For those of us that need the ability to switch consoles based on client demand, this is a powerful tool to have in the arsenal. Magic on acoustic guitars; gut pushing punch on drums; crystal on vocals; power for guitars and keys. Altogether provides that API sound in-the-box for impact on mixes. Worth every penny.
