I wish I had bought it sooner
The blue stripe is killin' the AE has 2:1 ratio, great for bus compression. The rev E sounds and feels like the real deal. I track a lot with 1176's and sometimes after using one all day I want the one I put on in the box to not just sound the same, but feel the same, and these do both. I love em.

My new guilty pleasure!
It has been bringing new life out of my microphones! A friend recommended this wonderful pre-amp and I am glad I took his word for it. I didn't even bother to demo first and I have no regrets!

Sounds good for a Plugin
The Plug-in is ok. Sounds like an intense EQ. It does the job enhancing significantly the original recorded sounds, if you know how to use it properly. More often than you would think, it wouldn't be the option to bring dead sounds back to life to cut trough your mix. Is great to cut down unwanted frequencies and sounds, it does it in a clean millimetric way. Uses a lot of dsp. I suggest Universal Audio to enhance the sound of this one, as it still has a long way to go to sound close to the original hardware!

Simple, easy, Light on DSP and sounds great.
I said to my self "do I really need another tape plugin"? Well as a Slate user for a long time I demo'd Oxide Tape against VTM and it is a completely different animal, and for me that is a great thing. On duller tracks Oxide tape brings out the top and bottom nicely where VTM does the exact opposite. With a Voucher it cost me 99$, I'm super happy with it!.

Well Worth It.
I own other tape emulators by other companies, but nothing I use. This one actually sounds real, and instantly improves the sound of whatever track it I put it on. I especially like the presets with the specific VU recommendations.

Warmth for Days!
The Legacy version of the Fairchild is a great plugin, but the MKII version is an entirely different level of quality. This is a staple on my master buss, but is also incredibly useful on any stereo buss track....Drums, overheads, horn section, etc. Its great to use for coloration, even with no gain reduction dialed. The side chain makes it even more versatile. And when the real thing costs >$20k, this plugin collection is a no-brainer.

Great
I've tried many Pultec emulations and while there are many that work well for me, this is above the rest.

Deep and beautiful
Great piece of kit. It has a learning curve as there are a lot of controls, but it's all very meaningful. Sounds stunning.

Versatile
I've experimented with this on everything from vocals, drums and even adding it to the stereo bus (Eh, why not try it out?) and it really opens different possibilities that you don't get from SSL or the 88RS channel strips (Both excellent plug ins). I've never gotten my hands on a real Vision console but I can only imagine UA would go above and beyond to capture it's sound. I can't wait to try it with my unison pres.

Drum Bus dream come true.
Using this across the drum bus tightens everything and adds a fatness that wouldn't translate other wise. Sometimes, I use a very hard settling on it and drive the input so that it almost clips, giving it a overdriven sound which can be fun. I wouldn't say this compressor is transparent so I'm not sure I would use it on the stereo bus but it's perfect over my drums, couldn't be happier.

My favorite UAD Plugin!
I don't have every UAD plugin, but I have a few, and this one is hands down my favorite. Right up there with the API Vision Channel Strip and the SSL G Comp. I use this plugin for so many different things. I like it on the drum bus to give it that reverbed out, slappy sound like you hear on all the hip indy records these days. I like to do some cool echo/reverb stereo panning with it on vocals. I like to make acoustic guitars sound kind of weird. It is a really cool thing to add to just about anything, really. It doesn't hog a bunch of DSP, so you can use it for mild echo and a little bit of saturation on a dry track. The controls are very simple and easy to grasp. Once you dive in, the possibilities are pretty much endless. Thanks, UA for making my favorite flavor of plugin!

Tape goodness!
So, I have never recorded to real tape, but I have listened to plenty of records that were, and this plugin really gets it. But, never mind all of that. What I want to talk about is how good of a plugin this is for the mix bus. I find that it adds a great level of color, glue, and sweetness to my mix. I usually add it at the very end, after I get the track how I want it, then let the ATR-102 give it that tape warmth and glue and use the eq to tweak the very top and bottom. It sounds great on a drum bus, as well. You can get some great tape delay effects for guitar and vocals, as well. I think this plugin is a must have for people who want their tracks to not sound like the modern "pristine" thing that's all over pop music, but want their music to have character and a more "human" quality.
