Some excellent results
I have recorded in large studio live rooms, and also in small rooms that are lacking reverberant character. What this product provides for me is the gentle spatial enhancement of a live room that I can apply to a dry recording. I have lots of plugins for dramatic reverberant effects (such as a chamber, hall, plate and so on). The Sound City Studios plugin has a different role for me, which is to make it feel like a dry source sound is no longer trapped in a small box. There are a good range of subtle controls to affect the nature of the reverberant decay. You do not need to restrict yourself to the suggested room arrangement that matches the recorded instrument (for example, I like the Drums > Live and Ensemble > Horns models for vocals). There are some annoying limitations in terms of control over positioning of acoustic panels and microphones, and I have to change quite a lot of the settings away from the defaults to achieve my desired effects. However, if you learn how to use the controls, you can get some excellent results.

A High Quality Implementation
I've used LA-3A plugins for a long time, and have experience with emulations produced by multiple different companies. I typically use the LA-3A on drums for controlling tonality and punch. There is only one version provided, so it lacks the variations in character enabled by the different revisions in the UA 1176 Collection, and obviously the design does not have the controls of a 1176, so it is less flexible. However, compared to competitors' implementations, I've found the UA version of the LA-3A to be a bit cleaner and more tonally balanced. This is a high quality implementation.

1 plugin, many flavours. no wet/dry knob
my DAW has wet/dry knob for every fx, so no problem for me.
i used this plugin almost on everything and happy to have it in my arsenal.

One Sweet Channel Strip
Sonically it is above reproach and the plethora of tools it brings to the table is comprehensive to say the least. Their gate is about the finest I've ever used. Literally invisible if adjusted right. The gain is virtually noise free as well. Very well done indeed and a virtual MUST for a Luna owner.

Old dog new trick
This is a fantastic plug-in. I love all the presets spent quite a while going through them. My favorites are the short vocal rooms. You will not be disappointed.l will be tweaking the presets for days another hit from UA.

The iLok racket
I cant imagine there ever being a problem with any plugins themselves, from UA. They are stellar. The only problem is software companies, UA included, who insist on perpetuating the iLok racket. The plugins simply need to be able to be licensed to a machine, not just "in the cloud", or on a iLok usb stick. Or, they must be able to be downloaded, unlocked...and thats it...no iLok anything. Perhaps its oldschool, but I do not ever have my studio machine connected to the internet unless I specifically have to update something or download, etc. Needing to be connected to the internet in real time, in order to use a plugin, in the future, will keep me from purchasing and using UA plugins.

The Color
I really love the color. Using it on top of API Preamp sounds just amazing. I did while testing LUNA which seems to be really interesting in terms of workflow. Good job guys !

Unresolved Issue
there is an internally issue that still hasn't been resolved. This makes it practically unusable.

Very good late 70's type of lexicon sound.
It isn't 480 though, it is somewhat different sound. I think you need both.
