A new sound !

Amazing for my Home Drum Studio
This plugin offers amazing possibilities, and is perfect for adding scale to my 20 raw drum stems, which I capture, with 10 of them being outboard channels of Neve 1073 style preamps, for that analogue flavour. This pairs up perfectly with the UA Distressor plugin in the recording chain I find. But do love to mess with the compressor options within the Sound City plugin too.

Distressor decision
Wasn't sure whether this EL8 would be a real improvement to my studio or simply "another piece of gear" but it's rapidly proving to being essential, & far more flexible than I expected.
Highly recommend!

Probably the best room emulators out there!
It surprised me how realistic and immersive this room plug in is. Its been a stable for my mixes recently. Especially since most drums I record are in a smaller, quiet room. Which is good, cause its flexiable, especially when using this plugin. Its very CPU hungry, but worth it. There are also a learning curve with it, but very easy to grasp when given the time. I’m excited to hear what new technology will bring us later on, but this is a must have right now.

This one has CHARACTER
Lots and lots of character. It's perfect to add a vintage vibe to acoustic guitar, vocals or brass sections. It's not suitable in every ocassion of course, but it sure is my most loved reverb. Most other reverbs do their job, this one adds something 'special'.

Amazing but CPU hungry!
It's an amazing plugin, the sound sculpting possibilities are phenomenal BUT it eats CPU like a monster so forget about putting in on everything if You don't have a hi-end computer.

Versatile beast
Although I mostly find myself using it as my go-to drum bus compressor, I had used it on individual tracks from vocals through brass and guitars, etc...getting a quick result in a matter of a few mouse clicks is a breeze with this one. It's a truly "Swiss knife" of a tool.

Never Guessing the Compression
It's wonderful having these two legendary compressors at your disposal. It would truly amazing to have this as an actual piece of hardware gear, but it doesn't exist!. It's only available here at UA!

Another color that was not in my plugin forest before.

Really nice addition to my plugins
I’ve never owned the hardware version of this so I cannot compare, however, I can say that this plugin sounds fantastic on everything you put through it. Universal Audio plugins in general sound great, not just this one.

Limited- no midi learn????
I bought this product based on reputation of both companies. I was immediately disappointed to learn that the. VST (midi) based instrument didn’t offer midi learn for the controls.
Sounds are as expected.
Don’t bother with this purchase if you want a hands on approach. It does not offer midi learn.
Maybe this product is reserved for super human mouse skills to control the parameters.
Too bad.

Part time useful
I have tried the LA-6176 on a dozen different contexts, when I need a little excitement on a track. I have kept it maybe 2 or 3 times, which is not bad, considering that it is a replica of obsolete tech, which, in principle, should do nothing more than dirtying the signal. But obviously it is more complicated than that - think of dither - so we can ask ourselves: why should it be working? A track may need some veil, some phase canceling to calm its enthusiasm a bit in order to work harmoniously with the rest? Probably. That said, the presets are the key, here - I would never spend more than a minute fiddling with the parameters, which, in a modern DAW environment, are little more than symbolic. And it is not that the LA-6176 is miraculously apart from the rest: I have a bunch of such replicas, with various ratios of success... Some have proven to be absurdly subtle, which leads to useless, while this one is more intrusive, powerful, so in the end it will either do something for real, or...destroy the quality. Use your ears, mistrust the hype!
