Great sound, flexible, good looks, and easy to use!
Excellent tool, very versatile and so much fun to use. Adds depth and atmosphere with ease, if that is what you are after. Can go from very subtle to pronounced reshaping of sound - it is a musical instrument all by itself. So nice for experimenting and easy to find good solutions. Perfect complement to a Capitol Chambers or Hitsville reverb chamber. And it looks amazing too. Will find its way on many mixes ...

Must have
I'd only ever seen this thing (hardware version) used in mastering studios and heard the results. Now as a plugin and affordable, how lucky are we! Not just great on mix/drum busses but on individual tracks too. Unique the way it all interacts, that unusual bandwidth control. Read the hardware manual to dive deeper into trying to figure out how it all works, but you know what? It's probably better that you don't know how it works, switch off the left brain, just close your eyes, open your ears and tweak those knobs.

Soulful. Easy to use.
Just got this for my two-bus and I really like it. Versatile. You can choose tape speed, what type of tape, etc. You can make your mix as grainy or as smooth as you choose. This has the soul of tape with the convenience of modern technology.

Good, but no sidechain support when using with UAD-2
It's just a shame the UAD-2 version for Apollo does not support sidechain, only the native seems to have this, otherwise good compressor.

Great Plugin
Usually the presets on most plugins I use do not work well for me. I have to do a lot of tweaking to have good results but the LA-6176 presets are very good. I used one of the bass guitar settings and it really cleaned up the signal and made it more present in the mix. It also works well on other instruments. Highly recommended.

Sounds great as expected
The Manley® Massive Passive EQ has been one of those plugins that I have nearly purchased many times. I finally added it to my toolset and it hasn't disappointed me. Sounds great and easy to dial in great sounds.

Unique and powerful
Talk about adding color and tone to your mix bus, this really did the trick for me. I can't say I'd use this on everything I'm mixing but this compressor really packs flavor and punch as you'd expect from the name. And UA's additional modifications, like the added Saturation give it fire even the original unit couldn't produce. I'm still getting to know the unit but happy to take the time to learn all it has to offer. Five stars is barely enough.

This plugin adds noise/hiss to the signal
I am super upset that I haven’t properly tested the plugin before purchase, There should be an option to disable the noise in a digital recreation of a plugin. Useless for me .

2 for 1 Workhorse
When tracking vocals, my chain usually consists of my Townsend Sphere going into my modeling of choice, a preamp (usually the Manley or 1073), into a 1176, and finishing with the 2A. I’ve been eyeing the LA-6176 hardware model for a while but wasn’t able to afford one anytime soon, and this randomly popped up on a session day for the Apollo variant. Now my chain has a 2 for 1 where I now have another slot to use for an EQ. Vocals are coming in pretty solid right now and the vocalist I tracked while trying this out was in love with how he sounded. Definitely would recommend this if you already incorporate a 76 or 2A in your chain.

Ultimately, it’s just a channel strip—but a very good one. I have numerous UAD plugins, and they are all very good. Recommend.
