Tape emulator
I don't know what it really does but I like it. Seems to act like a saturator.

UAD 1176 Collection
The best 1176 emulation plugin on the market! Using it on a daily basis, perfect choice for vocals, guitars and drums. It gives the punch i needed and harmonics are outstanding, can not tell the difference between real hardware and plugin.
Great UAD product as usual!

Instant better maker
Having been disappointed by tape emulators in the past, I hadn't delved into UAD's more expensive offerings, figuring the benefit to cost ratio wouldn't be to my advantage. Recently, I found myself with a coupon and nothing I really wanted that I didn't already have, and I noticed the lower price of Oxide. I thought, alright, give it a try, and activated the demo. After inserting instances on drums and bass of a recently tracked song, I immediately heard the improvement to what I (and the band) thought were impeccably recorded beds. Further applying it to the scratch guitars and vocals closed the deal. I purchased Oxide right away. Now I'm considering a second Satellite so I can run more instances of it on bigger projects...

The Tool for Work Unload
The Studeras the first insert in every track makes mixing much easier. All of a sudden, harsh or brittle top end gets smoothed out, lows sit together well among tracks, transients get clear and defined. In the end, less tweaking is needed to mix tracks. You can gang the channels together for a real-life like pass of multitrack tape recording, or you can even tweak and eq each channel individually. Time is saved, and that alone makes it worth buying.

Lay it on!
I put this on everything! I use it on the way in, on sends in the project, and I'd use it on the master bus if not for the Ampex.

Saludos

Just like the real deal
In school we had only one 1176, and we used it to death. Nearing the end of my 2 year term we tested the UA 1176 vs the real one, it took us a while to dial it in but then there it was, all the squash and timber of the real one!!! This is all the proof I need, let me explain. I'm getting to the point that I'm NOT going to buy the hardware anymore, emulation has won and like it or not staying in the box for project studio's has its advantages !!! I'm a lover of tubes and warmth and since I'm 58 I really love vintage stuff, but the cost and upkeep and lack of variation has left me with a money vs quality issue. UA plug ins have solved this quandary. They are that good, and putting them on the track in console is the way to do it!!!!

Closest You'll Get To The Real Thing
Every 1176 compressor plugin is slighlty different. Some are clearly trying to mimic the analog gear as truly as possible, others are doing that as well as adding their own flavor, presets, ease of use. That being said, no matter how good you are with the plugins CLA-76 or something like that, they always fall slightly short of the real thing. This UAD 1176 plug is the untouchable. I didn't love the legacy bundle, but these sound, feel, and react like the real thing!

Silver Bullet
Indistinguishable from the hardware LA2A in the rack that I A/B'd it with, except now I have one for every track!

You don't need me to tell you if it's good or not
This plug in sounds like an la-2a. It fits on things that I can't really make an 1176 sound right. If you have an 1176, and la-2a in your list then you have 90% of your dynamic needs

The Truth
These compressors are amazing....The sound quality is as good as it gets....

a 'should have'
You'll be surprised how much you will use it once you have it. From simple gaining to heavy compression/limiting. It has so many hot-spots for different purposes! If i had to choose one it would be this. Sounds so much better then the waves alternative!!!

Lexicon 224 Reverb PlugIn
Finally I bought the real reverb!
Previously enjoyed ik Multimedia. Magic sound is obtained.
Voice is not drowned in the mix. So perfectly audible reverb.
Thank you Uaudio!

Fast And Effective
This plugin is what I've always wanted in a tape emulation. I have the Ampex that I use primarily for the wow and flutter effects. For the quick "tape" sound, Oxide is the best I've used. I demo'd the Studer, and it is very much in that same ballpark-except that since there are so few options, Oxide takes less than 10 seconds to dial in the perfect setting and then I'm moving on. It took a couple minutes at least with the Studer because of the options. This is my utility, cumulative-effect plugin that makes stuff sound better. Try it out. Buy it up.

really improves the sound

Sounds great, but GUI needs modernization.
This plugin sounds incredible. But it also suffers from the same problem that almost all of their vintage plugs do: UA refuses to move into modern times with the GUI. You can't see the values of anything you're adjusting, and in recreating the exact layout of the original hardware, it's not as easy to see and navigate as it should be. For people like me who do extremely rapid work with super tight turnarounds with very precise adjustments (post production), it's a real drag. They should also go the Slate route and offer more EQ points (or continuously adjustable), etc. UA makes great sounding plugins but they are stuck in old times GUI-wise -- if they moved their GUIs to the 21st century, I would buy more. I stopped after this one.

Good for all instruments and vocals!
I've been using these plugins since I bought them and have not been disappointed yet! Have used them for all rhythm section instruments and lead male and female vocals - both during recording and mixing with good results all around. Highly recommended!
