Essential
When taking into account the sound, number of instances can use due to the low cpu loading this has and the price, it is essential.

Pleasantly surprised...
I know Neve and SSL gear so I bought the Neve 88Rs & SSL 4000 channel strip plugins as soon as my Apollo arrived. I had some time to test other plugins for my UAD bundle deal and wasn't intending on a third channel strip but thought I'd try the API out of curiosity.
Oh man, you run anything through the preamp section of the API Vision and it just sounds....I don't know how to say it except...expensive. Immediate add to cart for me!
Remember to flip the NEW / OLD switch on the compressor - some sonic voodoo going on there - I like it!

Analoge Gold in all it's Digital Splendour!
What can I say about the Legendary LA-2A and this amazing plugin version that hasn't already been said...nothing much.
It's the workhorse compressor everyone needs and loves. But it.

The Lexicon 224 Legend
Lush reverb tails with soooooo much tone. Wasn't sure about the fader and button interface at first but it's surprisingly intuitive and retro cool looking.

Quick and easy, no fuss
A nice additional tape option for the arsenal. Recommended if you like to set it and forget it as there are not many settings to manipulate.

great and quick to get a vibe
I like how quickly you can get a ballpark tone with this plugin collection. I am quite sure it will be my "go to" eq in my plugin collection. great for zoning in on a bass tone and painting the picture. I typically use the 1176 and LA 2A compressors first and place this next in the chain.

A800 a Moisturiser for my tracks
Just like the moisturiser that we use on our skin, the A800 just smoothens out the texture while maintaining the good qualities of the sound. Basically reduces the negatives in the tracks. Especially on the percussion tracks I get the required sound just by a few knob tweaks. The Bias knob is beautiful on the lo-mids, which can adjust the balance b/w the mud and warmth. Now my mixes sound amazing. I would love to have it on all of my mix-busses but I am limited by the quad core FW version of the satellite.
The gang function is amazing but sometimes a pain when I have many instances woking on different materials.
I wouldn't recommend the use of this on the master bus. If you don't have a choice then it must be used really really subtle. I would suggest the Ampex, for the master buss.
Well thats it for now, will write more as I use it and spoil it.

And More!
Just wanted to add that I had this channel strip up against a hardware API 550v and Warm Audio which I was going to buy the Warm audio as it was identical to the API 550v. I sent the Warm Audio unit back along with the API 550v and grab this channel. All sound identical... (When used as Unison). Great days!

This thing is on everything!
Love it, I use it pretty much on everything! Looks, feel and sounds right. Quick to the point and delivers the results. Unison sounds proper!

Good low cost alternative to Studer
For only $100, you can get a pretty solid tape emulation. It doesn't consume tons of DSP or CPU, and it's good for not-so-extreme settings. I'll put it over a lot of drums, and the main controls I mess with are the input and outputs.
I haven't figured out all of it's secrets or really amazing settings, but the IPS speeds are pretty cool to flip between and the noise reduction is a nice touch.
Just state your goal, and push the input until you get the color you want!
