Power Perfomance

I've been hesitant to jump into the UAD universe for quite some time.

Working in multiple rooms and differently configured rigs I've always tried to keep a fairly consistent group of plug ins in mind while I'm working - namely Waves as most studios have their plug in bundles.

Funnily enough I saw more and more young producers and song writers with a UAD set up than big studios - be it PCI-E, firewire, or Apollo interface - and I finally decided to see what the buzz was all about.

Man am I happy I did. I was so blown away by it I had to grab a set up on my own and a few bundles.

Had I not jut upgraded my rig to and HD io I may have gone for the Apollo route I was just that impressed!

This is an awesome product!

UAD Octo in external Thunderbolt Chassis

UAD Octo in external Thunderbolt Chassis connected to McBook Pro Quad.
A breeze to work with! Disconnected the internal fans, which are unbarebly loud.
Gets hot but still o.k. Working on the road finally becomes uncompromised!!
Great.

UAD-2, Double the QUAD power!

PCI for zero latency, double the processing power with 8 shark chips!
I love it, I own it! UNIVERSAL AUDIO, I LOVE YOU!

P.S: Concerning the UAD-2 plugins - people require analyzers for their work! As well there are no good enough pitch tools, all that I use give artifacts when used heavily. Im not talking about correction, Im talking about simple but QUALITY sound shifting. Thank you!

Free at last

After I had the first quad card my mixes got the spark I was always missing... then I needed another one when the UAD had become my go to plugs... then they came up with new ones that sounded better and better.... then when I got the Octo card on top of the two quads finally dsp power is not holding me back... finally I can do "whatever" I want....

Octo Upgrade

Having been using a duo card for the last couple of years, and finding that running the latest plugs uses more power than I've got, I decided to add an octo card. I feel I can now run what I want with no worry's. I'm using about 60% power running LA2A 1176 collections, EMT 140, lexicon 224, EMT 250, Ocean Way and both tape plugins on an average 30 track project. My PC has gone from overloaded down to about a third power. The only drawback is the cost of the plugins and having to wait for the special offers to be able to get the plugins at reasonable cost.

UAD OCTO Review

I recently added an OCTO core card to my setup and it really gave me the headroom I needed.

I already have a Quad Satellite, but with all the plugins I had purchases I would run out of DSP pretty fast plus I use the Quad on Post mixes and rather than taking it back and forth, I can leave it and use my OCTO card.

Having the extra headroom and live input mode is great as well.

The only problem is now I can't stop buying plugins. I think I already have 2/3's of all the plugins and I'm sure I'll be out of DSP again soon.

Looks like its time for an Apollo interface for the additional QUAD, UAD tracking, and mic pres.

Which will lead to another OCTO core, more plugins and eventual bankruptcy. ;)
I've started a support group.

UAD2 octo custom

I am very pleased with the recent purchase of UAD2 octo custom, because I find that the sound of the plug-in is excellent and the power of the DSP card is more than enough for my mix.
Thank you.

Give a second chance to your old computer !

My Mac Pro was underpowered for mixing large Pro Tools sessions so I decided to give him more power !
The UAD-2 Octo Ultimate card did it perfectly and even more than i expected !!!
Now my mixes sound really better: All plugins provided are really amazing !
Thanks to Universal Audio for this great product .

Tell everyone or keep it a secret???

On the one hand I want to tell everyone how much I love the UAD card and plugins that I have. On the other hand I want to keep it a secret as I am blown away and want it all to myself!

I must admit I don't have any of the hardware to use as a benchmark for comparison. What I do have are other plugins ostensibly doing the "same" thing and generic tools, but I subjectively feel the sounds I am getting from my UAD plugins are much more organic and natural.

Part of me wondered whether there was a bit of an Emperors New Clothes effect going on. But the difference is definitely there.

Love it! Tell everyone!, but don't tell anyone!

I love it except the latency in protools.

It was a big upgrade for me from uad1 to uad2 octo. I'm very happy with the power of this card and quality of the plug ins . The only thing I'm concern about it is the plug ins latency which is very high in pro tools .

UAD-2 Octo Core

UAD-2 Octo Core, There is enough power, I am satisfied. thanks

It is more power, more opportunities for work!

Many plug-ins of UA demand many UAD resources of cards. Octo is excellent option to work without looking back each time on DSP loading in a format of one PCIe card.
I want on near future to see a card with 16 or even 32 processors onboard.
