A work horse.
I have watched a number of youtube clips on some eqing of tracks and like the subtle use this plugin can be used for. Its the subtle correction I think im going to like the most from the Manley . Ive actually only used the presets on my own tracks so far and have been able to move along quickly which I think we can all appreciate.
Have a feeling its eating up a lot of cpu though but i guess it is a MASSIVE passive isnt it ?

Great eq
Quite impressed with how rich of sound you get from this plug. I can't compare to the real thing so I won't say how close it is. It has great presets for some quick tweaks. My only complaint is the high dsp usage!

Massive and a Swizz-army knife
When you are done with a mix and your clients are happy there is still one more thing you can do, slap the Massive Passive on the guitarbus, add some 3khz and bam! Agressive upfront wide guitars to compete in the loudness war without compression. I just love this EQ!

Amazingly Warm on Synth and vocal !!!!
I have been interested by the Manley since I heard that Todd Terje wanted one.
UAD offered a great emulation, I tried the demo on a PAD synth patch and after boosting the high and the mid in different mode I couldn't believe how much it was sounding good, it's so musical, warm. And if you are looking for some extra colour to bring more life to your sound, it's one way to go.
The Manley strength is amazing and powerful EQ for high, mid or low frequency, I used it on synth to add more clarity warmth and depth.
Unfortunately this plugins is very heavy in DSP, there is no SE version, it's the reason to rate 4/5.
I used it recently on a male vocal recording to add more body, it helped to get a fat voice recorded in inappropriate conditon

Just can't get enough
Why is this the perfect eq? I keep asking myself.
1. maybe because its the faithful reproduction of the original, but i dont know anything about that as I have not had the luck trying the origial gear. (i only had chance to work with a manley harware compressor and it looks feels about the same)
2. the buttons. look at the buttons! arent they just sexy
3. unpredictable behaviour of slopes. just like a woman!
4. lets you dial in mid highs without the feeling that you have too much high in the end. i used to switch the third dial and boost around 1khz in shelving mode and it does it sooo nice
5. i only wont give 5 stars because i know uad will sooner or later come up with an upgraded version

What can I say that's not already been said . . . .
This is a weird plug in, I use it on a final mix, at the mastering stage, simply put it makes things sound better (I normally choose a preset and work from there) but I can't really say why, it's not like I've suddenly got a bigger bass, shimmering highs or more clarity, I can't really put my finger on it, but it's nothing stunning or immediately impressive, it's just that after you've got it on your track, the track sounds a little less 'quality' when you switch it off . . . . I'd love to say it does something specific like 'tighten' bass, make mids more punchy or adds 'air' to the high end, but you can do that stuff with basic (DAW built in) EQs, the Manley just seems to add a little bit of goodness I can't put my finger on.

If Only We Had a "Lite" Version!
I'd rate this 5 stars if I could use more than a few instances of it. Everything you want from a Manley, but it will suck the DSP life right out of you.
You gave us a "Mastering" addition, why not a "Lite" addition next?

manley
I used to work in a tracking room who had two mono Manley 'pultec type' eqs and also two Pultec eqp-1a3s. Have to say I wasn't that keen on them (Manleys) but totally fell in love with the Pultecs. The Manleys just didn't do the trick with bass, vox, 2 buss in a way the Pultec really excelled. I got some nice results with the Manleys though: great mid-frequency boost for electric gtrs, nice to add some top (quite harsh) to percussion tracks to really cut through...

magic eq
just doing some magic on sub busses and main buss. combining it with a tape plugin and limiter and compressor makes the mix smooth and not to loud

I'm very satisfied by this plug. I can feel the analog sound under my hand. It's very musical, great on your bus master and for your mastering.
I've tried the real one (hardware) and I've got the same feeling with the plug.
I couldn't mix or masterise without it now.
One more time, good job UAD!!!

Manley - the sensible eq
You can use a Pulteq to add air, body and indescribable body to your sound. You can use any amount of wierd filtering to add interest to your sound But at the end of the day you will need a powerful, sensible eq to tame lumpy bottom end, remove glug in the mids and tame wild idiosyncrasies. That's why I got the Manley and that's what it does. I needed a good sounding EQ tool to sort out my basses and deal with bottoms and low mids. I highly recommend it.

Manley Massive Passive
Soundwise it is great. Works very good for mastering and bus eq. However even though this should run from UAD-2 DSP cards, it still consumes 37-41% of your host CPU? This is a big turn off. That;'s su[[osed to be the reason to step on the UAD2 train, to unload the burden of your host CPU. Biut seems not all plugins are programmed to run 100% from the DSP's. However this may be a bug in the 64 bit version of the UAD software for which UA may release an update.

Good job! We compared to hardware version!
We were able to compare, because we own also the hardware version. From our point of view(ear) the UAD Plugin is 85-90% close to the Hardware version. Really good job UAD!

Great plugin!
The Manley Massive...I wanted this thing for a long time!
I love the precise touch, especially in the higher frequencies!
Ideal for mastering eq as well! One major downside though.
It's a very heavy plugin! It drains DSP % and since I have the UAD 2
Duo card, I run out of DSP space fast with this thing, causing my
DAW to lag intensely once the UAD DSP usage is at max!
So if that problem could be solved, then it's a 5 star plugin for me! :-)
Best wishes,
Nick

Great stuff!
I use this with the Apollo when tracking vocals on the way in and on the master buss. The sheen that this provides to my mix is excellent! I gave it four stars because it is a major resource hog but I love the sound it gives.
