just like tape without the fuss
Nice and close to the sound of tape, gives body and roundness to your audio and a little compression along the way.
I would not put one of these on every channel, as you would compress your entire mix too much, but for richness to instruments and vocals and possibly bass, it will give great results.
Anything a bit sterile sounding it will give some warmth back into the sound.
The beauty of this plugin is you dont need a team of technicians to constantly maintain it and keep it calibrated.
I love the sound of tape and this plugin comes very close to the real thing, without the fuss of maintenance.
Thanks UA for a great plugin.

SOUND IS SO FULL
Put this at the end of your mix and watch the magic happen.

The Tool for Work Unload
The Studeras the first insert in every track makes mixing much easier. All of a sudden, harsh or brittle top end gets smoothed out, lows sit together well among tracks, transients get clear and defined. In the end, less tweaking is needed to mix tracks. You can gang the channels together for a real-life like pass of multitrack tape recording, or you can even tweak and eq each channel individually. Time is saved, and that alone makes it worth buying.

Instant Mojo
Whaterver this plugin does, it excells. Tracks processed through it sound cohesive, classy, and polished. Although DSP load can be high on the Apollo Twin, boucing and deactivating plugins is a small price to pay for this quality. I own U-He Satn and I thought I was done buying tape emulations. Boy, was I wrong!

Lay it on!
I put this on everything! I use it on the way in, on sends in the project, and I'd use it on the master bus if not for the Ampex.

Wow, Thump my Head, The Secret's been here all along!!
The ATR-102, The Studder 800 and Oxide all do something different and special.
In the Digital Universe nothing else can touch them.
Others, even the number 2 best sounds like a computer simulation, these things sound like you "Turned on a Tape Machine".
I started recording analog tape, from ping ponging cassette decks, 4-8tr cassette, 16tr 1/2 and 1", 16-24tr 2in many flavors to 2track 1/4 and 1/2 in of many flavors. When I record/mix music I expect certain "hard to explain" things to happen the sound that (seemingly) only electricity, transformers and magnets could produce, Until I hit that demo/buy button.
Once enlightened with these, "The Secret" was revealed. 102 Bus Glue, 800 Track Weight, Oxide, Life for digital synths and drums

Best Glue and Mastering Plugin Ever.
I was shocked by the result of this Plugin what can do with a master track or your mix.
The whole mix just come to alive like never before.
Incredible what u can achieve with the Ampex Atr 102.
I already own a lot of other plugins as such as Apollo Twin Duo. The best ever.
Nice One Guys keep up the good work.

Punch, Clarity, Depth, Glue
I got the demo of this because it kept popping out to me as I glanced through the plugins in the online store. This is hands-down the best tape plugin I've ever used.
The sound is wonderful. It glues a mix together, adds depth in the low end, smooths out harshness in the high-mids, tightens up the mix by adding that lovely/natural tape compression, and I haven't even mentioned all of the options you can tweak if you want to get specific.
The tape choices are brilliant for honing in on the specific sound you're looking for. You can get pro, Pop mastered, clear mixes through this or that warbley, thick, crumbly old demo sound. This does some extreme things if you push it hard enough but it's also easy to just bring in a subtle vibe-y Wow.

Exceeded my expectations
I've tried almost every tape simulation out there. Many of them are nice and do a trick to the sound. However the Studer is in a league of its own. Throw it on every track. It doesn't add that "hiss" effect just for the fun of it. The effect is subtle, but enough to change an entire mix around with it on every track. Game changer.

Amped ATR 102
Plug in carries quite a bit of noise with it, I will see how it performs.

Great Plug! Film Placement
I used the Studer plugin for a record that was in the scene of a major film (The Butler) (death of MLK scene by Fantasia Barrino) and on the sound track a few years back..... I had to make the record fit a time period. This knocked it out the park. It was so authentic that the film guys kept double checking to make sure that it wasn't a sample that needed clearance.... and the film mixers raved at how good the stems were. Thanks for helping to get that placement/engineering credit

It's a Medium
The Ampex Tape Plug-In has become a medium for me in my recordings, adding both glue and varnish to my pieces, so glad I committed to it.
Thank you Universal Audio!

a great alternative
I bought the UAD2 after testing this plugin. I own and love the Waves and Abbeyroad tape plugins. But this takes everything one step further. But you have to listen very carefully, or you'll overdo it! Watchout for HF boosts and bassdrum smear. If you stay just right under the "too much"-level, everything comes to life in a very beautiful way with this plugin. Killer on the drumbus!!

One of the best plugins out there
This plugin is probably one of the best plugins you can find in the digital domain. For mixing and mastering, this plugin delivers a sound that no other plugin can give you. Big thanks to UAD for making this emulation!
