Sweet spot is not easy to dial in
I think this can produce a good colour as a comp, but I also found finding that perfect balance to be quite tedious and lots of dialing In. Once you get it, it’s great, just a little too much time to get there though.

Not the must lush reverb
At this price point, and from UA, I was expecting a little more clarity. It sounds nice, but both the UA name and the $149 price tag doesn’t feel aligned. Far cheaper verbs out there with a better plate sound.

A bit surprised: warmth.
I have Ampex and Studer plugin already. This one - Oxide - is the first one I really hear, feel, something happens just inserted on a chanel. I didn't expect that at all. and what I hear is good. I will tweak this thing to see if I am just imagening...

Such a vibe
Such a killer delay/reverb for adding depth AND sonic character. It's really fun to play with, and when driven, sounds remarkably close to a proper tape delay, without the maintenance. Only giving 4 stars as you can't manually adjust the delay time beyond fixed parameters, such as 1/4 or 1/8, or variations of around 100 milliseconds on fixed times from the original unit. I think sometimes UAD shoot themselves in the foot by not adding extra features which everyone would have gladly had on the original hardware and are easy as pie to add to the plugin. But for fixed times and even as a stand alone reverb, this is a fantastic plugin, hands down.

Awesome analog-style synth that's not a model of something that already exists.
I love the fact that UA is creating synths from scratch. PolyMAX is a great addition to the toolkit with a warm, vintage vibe reminiscent of classic analog synths from the 80's. The UI is great and is easy to navigate. Looking forward to more new creations from UA. Keep an eye out for a new preset pack for this one and also be sure to check out "SYMBOLS - The Lost Preset Pack for OPAL" on killerpresets.com .

Great for distorted guitars, lots of aggression and really hard to find EQ settings that sound bad, amazing color box, I used to rely on the SSL but this has now become my favorite channel strip.

Excellent Collection/Complete Satisfaction
Loved the free trial of these products and had to pick them up. Simple to use with amazing results. Could not imagine mixing without one of these on the channel.
