Very clean look..very intuitive. A bit wonky tryna get my X Touch w/ 2 Extenders to work (keeps crashing LUNA) but I don't need the controllers to explore the features of the 100% FREE Full unlimited version of LUNA.

Pretty sweet. I can see why there is a ton of buzz going around. The API, and Neve components are outstanding and the Studer Tape is sweet. Impressed...so far.
The look of this DAW is beautiful. Functionality and form should go hand in hand (you listening Pro Tools?), at least I feel so. Aesthetically, LUNA drips with attention to detail, just like UAD's plugins. I am a sucker for a good looking DAW that goes for that analog desk look. Compared to Harrison Mixbus32c (which touts an analog workflow and does it well) it blows it away in this regard. The workflow can get a little cramped with the API Vision Ch Strip component inserted but that really depends on your monitors resolution and size (I have a 27" iMac) so a little work there to get the right look and feel for your own personal taste.
Since the initial download I went ahead and upgraded to the Pro Bundle with all the extra goodies. The API Vision Ch Strip component is a mainstay for my default. It creates a faster workflow and I find that I tend to save plugins for my busses. Throw in the API 2500 Bus Compressor Extension, API Preamp, and the API Summing Extension and you'll be in analog heaven.
Oh, and my controllers are all working now without a hitch.
Composing in LUNA is a snap. All the usual suspects are there. If you are coming from Pro Tools, Studio One, or even Logic/Garageband, you will find that LUNA is wholly capable of handling your songwriting needs. I recently composed a tune for my band Stanislav & The Lion using only the included Shape Toolkit Instrument and ARP Arpeggiator along with my M-Audio Oxygen 49 MIDI Controller. At 1st glance, the Shape Toolkit would appear to be rather simple, but it is a robust soft-synth that delivers the goods where it counts.
Wish list? SSL and Neve Ch Strip components...make it so!
In the short time that I have been using LUNA I have come to appreciate the straight-forward and intuitive design. No deep dive menus or unnecessary bloat which tends to show off the programmer's pedigree rather than the software's usability. As a signed musician whom records and mixes his own material, I need a DAW that feels more like an extension of the creative process. LUNA is certainly gaining ground in that aspect and the next few years will certainly bring to the fore just how powerful it will become.
