Great distortion characteristics
I have used the hardware version and fell in love with it right away. The plugin is pretty darn close, and I love how crazy I can compress audio with it.

A beast of a plugin
I bought this one after demo'ing it for an hour. It's as powerful as a plugin can get. It adds strength to drums and had a tightness to it that makes it stand out in a mix. Strap this on a drum group and parallel an 1176 with "All buttons" in and it sounds pretty damn slick.

Simple and efficient!
This is a great tool to add instant tape saturation to any source. Just insert the plugin, chose a preset that suits your audio source and from there just play with the controls. It's that easy. Sure the Ampex and the Studer are more complex and more dynamic but this little beast it's just perfect for fast workflow. Great job UA!

Sounds great
It's so easy to use and it sounds great. You don't have the flexibility of the Studer A 800 but if you just want to give your track some warmth quick and easy, this one is great!

Pristine Quality and Realistic
It's all been said so I will just say this is as close as your going to get without spending a few G's on a hardware version. It is a must have for everything from Vocals, Acoustic Guitar to Drums, Bass and Lead Guitar or Piano! You need this to get that sound.

Smooth and Deep Bass Kicks
I'm not writing this review to get a coupon or something but the Oxide tape is just amazing on the kick drums. Recently I had to EQ a track which was miked near the sound hole of a Cajon and I tried using an eq to get a nice round punchy sound but in vain. Probably I should go back to my book on EQs. Anyway I just put this tape across the track and there I was smiling " What the Fish has UAD put into these things? This was just the sound I was looking for...!!!"

Great tape saturation - easy on CPU
So satisfying to add 30+ channels of saturation on tracks and instantly have them play fatter and smoother. Even more satisfying to see that it is so easy on CPU.

Great plugin in addition of the studer
I was afraid to have 2 same plug ins but it is very different from the studer. The color that the Ampex bring is really different and glue the group and/or the master far better, a must have...

Only one word: fantastic! The A800 changes the sound as a real analog device, try to insert an A800 in every track of your project and learn your mix...outstanding!

Sculpter le son!
Le plugin que j'utilise le plus sur mon projet actuel! Vraiment efficace pour "sculpter" le son de la grosse caisse ou de la caisse claire. Je l'utilise même sur une prise guitare. On obtient facilement un son plaisant, soit feutré ou plus cissailé, juste en tournant quelques potards, pas la peine d'avoir une formation d'ingénieur du son pour obtenir un résultat aux petits oignons ;)

I like to use tape simulation plugin a lot, this one is the best! Various tape types for different textures and delay mode for thicker sound.

A game changer.
The UAD Ampex ATR-102 is a game changer. This bad boy helped me get that extra weight, punch and presence for the tracks to hit really hard. I used to think tape saturation wasn't necessary on electronic and heavily processed tracks, and was fairly unimpressed with other tape saturation plugins, but after moving to the UAD platform, and getting this gem, I have changed my mind. I actually felt like I got an extra sense of depth on the tracks along with the punchy front. Getting tracks to sound good is really about skill and years and years of hard work, but if there is some "magic" plugin to use to get that finished sound - this would (in my humble opinion) be it.
