Harrison 32 EQ A game-changer plugin!

5-Star, best ever...

So, here is the list of plugins I just bought, besides the Classic bundle that was included with my UAD-2. EMT 140, Lexicon 224, Studer A800, Ampex ATR, Helios EQ, Copper Time Cube and the Harrison 32.

Out of all of these plugins there is not a single plugin that was more amazing than the Harrison. When I added that to my lead vocal, it just made things so incredibly awesome, it is indescribable. This EQ is the best out there and then the Helios would be next for me. What this Harrison does to the mids is beyond reproach.

Great Option To Have

This isn't my favorite/go-to EQ, but it's a excellent tool to have. Good feature set w HP/LP, polarity, 4-band w shelf/bell, and line trim.

It's kind of a medium-character EQ - which brings down it's usage for me. Usually I'm going for a specific character EQ [Neve, API, Pultec, etc.] or something clean and/or surgical [Oxford, SSL E, etc.]. This falls somewhere in between. It can do some amazing things on certain tracks - but not all the time. It's never ever bad, though!

I'd love to see UAD nail a really great clean EQ - say, a GML 8200. Even just having the GML option on Oxford would rock.

Full disclosure - wouldn't have bought this without a sale/coupon combo - but the deal I got was too good to pass up! And glad I have it.

Nicely shaped EQ

I can see why Bruce Swedien brags up the nice carving this EQ possesses! (But now it makes me wish I actually owned the real console!) This has become a 'go to' to sparkle up the snare for sure and the sharp hi-pass filter can be dialled in perfectly for every sound I needed to cut some low end without affecting nearby frequencies.

magic to your mix

the harrison eq works like magic to your mix! easy to use, great presets to start, no significant change in sound between the 32C and the 32C SE.
if you are looking for a simple yet very good eq, buy the harrison!

Smoothest eq

Bruce Sweden is perfectly right about how smooth is eq sounds.
I used it on my lead vocal and it sounded like hot knife cutting through butter.
Smooth smooth is what this plugin sounds like. I shaved some 6k off my lead vocal and boosted the 13k about 4db and used the filters to get rid of unwanted low end in the vocal and sounded perfect. There is nothing like this plugin, it's a beauty seriously.
I don't get paid to write this and I just wanted to share this review with the hiphop and pop engineers who are asking there self if this plugin is worth buying. My answer is hell yes ! It's one of the best eqs u will ever use n sounds close to my vintage adm 1540 eq
Sounds real haaa

Well Worth It

This EQ is great! I use it all the time when other stepped EQs don't quite have the right frequency I'm looking to tackle. It has replaced my Waves plugins as my go-to EQ. It is very natural and smooth

Sweet Operational

For me, this EQ needed a second glance to reveal it's beauty. I like to shape the sound with EQ which lets me immediately hear what I do. Probably that was the reason why I prefered for example the Cambridge EQ.

But when the sound is shaped, I know what I want and it comes to final sound character, this one is replacing the previously used EQs on tracks which benefit from sound and depth of the soundstage. For example for a spacious, glassy rhodes, I would try other EQs, too, while for a voluminous, resonating rhodes this was the best so far. Very good on acoustic strings (guitar, ukulele), clean electric guitar, certain types of electric bass tracks.

Makes me wonder what it must be like to work with the original hardware.

Simply amazing.....

I don't rave about things too much..... but this EQ might very well be one of the best all purpose EQ's that is in software land. It's a sleeper because it's not sexy, but this thing sounds good on just about everything I put it on, even the buss. Doesn't use much DSP, especially the lighter version. On guitars I know for a fact nothing software can touch this EQ, there is just something about it that make guitars better. Snare, same deal, similar to the SSL eq where if you turn the knobs something is going to happen whether good or bad, but that's on you, not the plugin. This will absolutely be used in every single mix I do, and I'm 100% certain on that. It's probably one of the very few plugin EQ's I would describe as "musical". Good Job!

My personal favorite UAD EQ

The Harrison doesn't have as renown a name as "API" or "Neve" but this is my favorite EQ for the UAD format. Modest processing load, but huge tone! The hi-pass filter is great for carving out the mud, and the high shelf is perfect for adding sheen to dull tracks. I like to put this on every track, as if I was mixing on a Harrison console. It just works 95% of the time, and when it doesn't I drop in a Pultec or API. A must buy at the current sale price!

Get it Now

Just bought the Harrison EQ. I have to admit, I'm mad that I didn't get this plugin sooner. But it's on sale this month for $99. Take advantage. What I like is it feels like a unique analog EQ. I would suggest you demo it first, but it has a different type of sound to me that I like....Dark, deep and rich flavor. But it brightens up nicely too. I played around with it for a few days and I kept coming back to it. It just has a character? But you have to compare to really get where it's coming from. If you really want another tool to shape your sound? It's a must have. IMHO

Fun and beautiful to work with

Since purchasing this has become one of my favourite EQs to use. Sound of this is very smooth and soft. I would say that this is almost an opposite to API. Filters are very good too. Its almost impossible to get a bad sound with this eq.

Highly recommended!
