Fender '55 Tweed Deluxe Reviews
- TTAVerified ReviewerI recommend this productRated 5 out of 5 stars2 hours agoTHE GREATEST AMP SIM OF THE GREATEST AMP
Do I need to say more? The Tweed Deluxe 5e3 is the greatest amp of all time and UAD has done such a great job that it's no different than the real thing plus with endless recording options. I have fallen in love with this plugin in the studio and you will too. Trust me when I say that you don't even need the real thing when this is available. Because this IS the REAL thing. It is so good that i'm just going to call the real amp from the 50s "The Analog Version" of this plugin. There is literally nothing that you wouldn't be able to do with this that you would with the analog version. The possibilities might even be more.
I don't know how they do it but UAD has done it again.
It doesn't even matter if you like fender amps or the tweed era amps you need to get this plugin! What will you lose by owning the greatest recording amp of all time with multiple legendary speakers changing themselves in seconds, I mean how could you be disappointed? It is a $5-10k amp for this price without the hassles of the analog plus more options and easier use, it should probably be more expensive than the analog but here we are in the modern world living the modern times. Do you record music? Do you listen to music? Do you play the guitar? If your answer is yes to any of those questions then go for it.

I built a Tweed Deluxe clone, which I still have about 17 years ago, so I say this being extremely familiar with the amp... My one wish would be a ceramic Jensen speaker model like a C12N, as that's the Neil Young speaker.
There's a weird phenomenon that happens with a Tweed Deluxe. Many people say it's the "interactive tone controls", but it's actually an effect of the cathode bypass cap on V1 not being big enough to filter down to DC. What happens if, you plug into the bright channel, keep the volume all the way down, the turn up the volume on the normal channel and you hear this bassy muffled sound. What is happening is.... The cathode of the bright channel and normal channel share the same cathode resistor and cap. The cathode of V1B,, in this case, is driving V1A with a 25uf cap to ground or a low pass filter creating this muffled sound. On a Plexi or Bassman, the same setup is seen, but the cap is 250uf or 330uf, so it filters everything out. The point is .. This characteristic is modelled well... And you can use this as a primitive bass boost control.

I HAVE A FEW ACTUAL FENDER AMPS AND THIS PLUGIN SOUND VERY CLOSE TO THE REAL STUFF. GREAT PURCHASE, MAKES MOVING FROM STUDIO TO STUDIO WITHOUT HAVING TO LUG AROUND MY BIG GUITAR AMPS.
