Great Front End
Having used other brands' interfaces over the years, I've never had too many complaints with their products. The Apollo has really changed what I expect in my front end. I don't think I could go back to an interface that doesn't include processing.
Plug-in power isn't the only selling point, though. The conversion is solid and I like monitoring off UAD's Console.

Apollo duo
I had an ensemble and switched to the Apollo. I had heard the built pre's were so so, let me tell you they are top notch and I love them. Real time effect during tracking is a god sense. The bands recording live are just inspired and deliver top performance. I will have to purchase another one now that two units will be chainable. ProTools Mac.

Great product - sound & price
I think this is a great product that meets my needs as a professional producer. Sound quality and price is unbeatable. Works great with Pro Tools.

New Favorite
This unit has seriously become my favorite piece of gear to date. I've only given it 4 out of 5 stars, because with the Thunderbolt option (which I've also installed), The DSP portion of the unit connects over Thunderbolt's PCIe connection, while the AUDIO is still routed over FireWire 800 over Thunderbolt. I hope that in future firmware updates, they fix this issue (Are you listening out there Universal Audio?) so that EVERYTHING connects via Thunderbolt's ample PCIe connection, INCLUDING the audio portion of the Thunderbolt card.
That said, I almost immediately purchased the Studer and the Ampex plugs, and was very pleased with the immediate difference the plugins have made on my tracks and in my mixes. Very clean converters and preamps

Fantastic Quality When It Works
The Apollo sounds fantastic. It's sturdy and of high quality. The plugs for it are like nothing I've ever used before and have brought my production to a whole new level.
Unfortunately, my system is crashing often and it drops all of the plug-ins. Every time this happens I need to powercycle the Apollo and restart my host. Support thinks it's my firewire port as it's one of the only things left which we cannot test because my iMac only has 1 firewire port. There is not way of telling unless I get a new computer. My FW port worked fine with everything else I've used it for.
Support was good once I got in contact but the delay was far too long 4-5 days both times. The staff is great but I really would like a live chat feature.

Great sounding, amazing interface
I've had my Apollo quad for just over two weeks and am genuinely surprised at the improvement in sound quality over my 003. I read plenty of reviews and remarks about the A/D D/A conversion but wasn't prepared for the level of detail and presence that I heard when I ran an old mix through this interface. I even A/B my 003 compared to the Apollo and it was clear as day. The on-board DSP and UAD plugs are a sweet bonus, but I have only scratched the surface of the potential of this fantastic interface.

Game Changer
This piece of equipment by far is the best piece of I have ever purchased. Very open and clear pre-amps, fantastic a/d conversion, but the best part is the analog intergration. The ability to record tracks with an 1176 compressor or 140 EMT Reverb or any other fantastic plug-in UA offers is a game changer! I'll never let this thing go!

Awesome
This is an amazing interface! My previous interface was an Mbox 3, but I have also spent a fair bit of time on 002's and 003's. The pre's and convertors on this thing are sooo good! I plug it in and listen to music through it, just because it sounds so much better than through my macbooks headphone jack!
A warning to new users though, remember that it is digitally controlled analog hardware. so if you leave a pre up, and turn the unit off, it will still be up when you turn it back on. Might cause nasty feed back if you have things set up incorrectly.
Thank you Universal Audio, amazing product, I will definitely purchase from you again!

It's a hit!
The Apollo is an immediate hit in my studio! Excellent engineering in hard and software. Pristine audio quality. Used in conjunction with a UA 4-710d is all you need! If you intend to use this unit with a Windows system make sure to download the correct software and drivers from the UA site!! The disc shipped (at lease with my purchase) was Mac specific.

Fantastic! It's just fantastic!
I really love the apollo quad card with thunderbolt expansion card. It's really reliable and i've never experienced any problems using it with the great UAD plugins.
And also, everything just sounds better with the apollo card.
Using it with 64 bit in logic let's you work on really big projects and you don't have to do bounces and work between several projects to complete a whole song.
It's just great.
Apollo Quad card along with plugins and a great recording is just fantastic!

Loving the Apollo
Loving the Apollo thus far. Sounds great on playback, and the plugins are second to none. Great features on the front end of this unit (pad, HPF, linkable preamps, two headphone outputs), can't wait to take it out and do some recording with it!

The Stars is the Limit
In todays world hype is often used to generate sales. Most get skeptical whenever they see celebrities weighing in, especially those with really high end gear. Well I must say that this time , It's all fact not hype. This is a game changer. The Apollo is a game changer. One surprising thing is that it works seamlessly with any DAW. This is the most important UPGRADE you can add to your rig. Works as advertised.

Resurrection
I have been a Digidesign/Avid user for close to two decades, from Nubus to Apogee fronted native systems. But the last system lay dormant for a year or so as I pursued other interests, namely video.
My interest was piqued by the announcement of the Apollo but it wasn't until nine months later and a restructuring of my music system (scaled down) that I finally got mine. My review of the Apollo Duo can be summed up in just a few words.
It makes me want to make music again. Can't wait to switch it on and work and even though the overall system is smaller, I get a much bigger sound out of this great combination of conversion and DSP. I couldn't be happier.

apollo review
hi,
i bought the apollo last may. i waited 7 months for the pc drivers. after that i bought an apple laptop and it was having troubles for 2 more additional months cause of what seems to have been the TB to FW adapter. then i had no other choice that to buy the TB card and spent an additional 650$ for that and the TB cable. now it seems to be working fine.
pretty cool product. dont know how on earth you guys didn't put in a Talkback. thats kind of what everyone needs to be able to do a session.
sound is ok, up to the standards
another output for speakers would been necessary for a pro setup to be able to A-B speakers.
keep up the good work, but dont release products that are not ready yet. you make people turn against you

Great device!
This device is great. The sound is clear, very high quality. Easy management.
4 stars because software UAD console is not ideal for me,, so that you can adjust the mixer as you like inputs and outputs, two general aux - enough. It has also been used to make a perfect midi switching UAD console pressets!
If you make support MIDI switching pressets and matrix I/O commutation. Then it will be the best device in the world! Great device! I recommend

Best on the market!
Why do I consider this the best on the market? The pres sound great. Let's start there... Warm, wide, and true. As in interface into your computer: flawless... It's got all the connectivity you need for adding additional pres via ADAT. (It is missing midi, but then again, nobody is making regular midi devices anymore, they're all USB.) Now lets get the the fun part... The UAD section of this thing is a monster and it's capabilities will only grow from this point on. The plug-ins not only sound amazing but the Apollo's console sparks creativity with ways to use them.
Kudos, Universal Audio. This is the Cadillac of audio interfaces.

To the moon
If you already use UAD plug-ins the Apollo is a no-brainier. This thing is very cool. If you don't, you might want to talk to some people who do. They'll tell you how great it is to use pro sounding effects without popping the CPU pooch.
