Fairchild proper upgrade
I put this on vocals for a new track for a new client... he recorded rough vox thru his iphone and it still sounds amazing

I also have distressors, but in many cases, I feel that the uad 1176 fits better in the mix.

These plugs make anything sound sweeter. I use them on drum buss, vocals, bass and whole mixes. It will be hard not to overuse these. Simple to use. I wish with these and other UA plugins the window or plug in size can be adjusted to fit more on the screen at once. There's a whole lot of real estate that does nothing. Its about the sound, not the look. I understand the whole classic marketing angle; the wear marks, label tape, scratches and rack mounting holes are novel enough, but I would gladly forsake the true to scale graphics for a compressed(pun intended) GUI with just the space I need. It would be really cool if GUIs could be customized. And midi control would be great too, so I can use a real knob instead mouse.

I used the Legacy LA2A for a good while and loved it. I got these three when UA had em on for 99 bucks and its been great. All three have their own unique vibe. I'm using these a little bit more than the 1176 collection, so if you only buy one go for the LA2As first. They have a very analog feel. They are rather DSP hungry compared to the legacy version.

I was using the legacy 1176 for a while, and I thought it was much better than any 1176 plug I had tried (and I tried a few). UA put this collection on sale for 99 bucks and I just had to get them. The difference is huge! So much more open and analog sounding. They are very DSP heavy compared to the legacy models though, but that is to be expected.

This is now my goto compressor on drum buss and master out. Does wonder on those vocals and back vocal buss as well. Very organic sounding with the special vibe we recognize from the original. You nailed this one UA.

I have only few pieces in real hardware ( e.g. UBK Fatso, API 5000) and honestly I cannot compare the LA_2A collection to real hardware. But I can say that these
emulations sound very, very good. They add a certain vibe and have a signature sound we all know from many hit records. Amazing collection !! Almost a must-have ...

A MUST HAVE
I was mixing down a new CD went back to all songs I was using the legacy version and put the passive EQ in its place was blown away with the clarity and total vibe that this plugin brought to the mix totally worth the time to redo.

Another UAD plugin MUST HAVE
I did the trial 14 day and again was AMAZED at the sound quality of this plug in .Vocal tracks were better Bass player listen to demo and said whatever you did to the tracks had to to be done on the other songs without Faichild. It also made stings & Synth tracks come alive

it's such a different sound to suit mix can only be obtained from new 1176 and ls-2

Simply the best!!
I use the Teletronix LA-2A since 2 weeks and i just want to say that this product is amazing!!
Now my music will be the same one never again.I recommend the LA-2A if you wish to give a new dimension to your songs.

Best 1176 plugin
I've compared this to other plugins and hardware units, and it's safe to say that it is the best emulation I've ever heard. I even liked it better than some of the cheaper 1176 hardware clones. The purple audio 1176 was slightly better (this is 99% there and you could never tell in a mix) , but at this price it's a steal! I got it for $100 and have no regrets. I have an apollo and this lives on my vocal tracking in the console software. I also use it for tracking acoustic, guitars and some drums. Between this and the api vision strip I'm set.

Was a bit skeptical in the beginning but you can here and feel an improvement here.
If you love the old 1176 go for these as well!

An Essential
This plugin really is a studio essential. LA2As have been a huge part of making top records for years, and now we can all have the experience of their signature sound in our mixes. This is my go to for so many things. I'm sure whatever you put through it will sound great, but I particularly love it on vocals and bass!!

Excellent Levelers. Nice Sound. Especially the Gray Version on Vocals works fine.
