Its a compressor with variety of uses. From gentle to NUKE...
Ive been always worried not to compress things too much, but since i got this plugin i put it on every channel and dial some nice parallel setting to push things forward or to control crazy tonal sequences.
The saturation and colour can bring out all the hidden details you might miss. Timing of the attack and release suits all purposes, from tight transients to glueing to harsh and squashed sound, this one has it all

Awesome plugin. Running native in fl studio, parallel on drum bus. Adds a very specific punch that I couldn't get easily with other compressors. Very impressed with the sound.

the Empirical Labs EL8 Distressor Compressor is really fab, and so useful. Putting it against the hardware in a big studio recently, I couldn't tell the difference in the sound/audio of how it was impacting the drums, as I had matched the controls on them to be the same. It's very very close to the hardware, it's brilliant - get this plugin for bass, drums and vocals.
