    As a Vocal Compressor

Vocal EQ and compression in front of a Yamaha Stagepas 1K Mark 2 PA System.

AKG D5 microphone wireless set line out into UAFX MAX.

UAFX MAX line out to PA.

Both pre-amps at zero gain, low cut, high boost with 1176 followed by LA-2A.

All the benefits of the original equipment in a pedal .

    What's not to love.

    WHAT A BUMMER

Brand new out of the box and the Max doesn't work. First of all, there is audible clicking inside the pedal housing - not a line or signal noise, actual physical clicking inside. Secondly, the pedal lags in initialization mode for as long as ten minutes, with no way to switch off the bluetooth pairing search so that it can be used. When this is happening, I can't select either compressor channel. Totally useless. I own 50+ pedals from boutique to budget, and I've new had a new pedal simply fail.

    Schweinegeil! :-)

Anyone who has ever worked with the analogue models will easily recognize their character. The replicas are very well done. In conjunction with the amp simulations of the Dream and the Ruby, which also sound very good, you get a sound that can definitely be described as “mix-ready”.

I use the Max with 2 compressor models in parallel: the 1176 for the Telecaster into the above-mentioned pedals and the La-2a into a LR-Baggs Voiceprint Di for the acoustic guitar.

Either to play directly into the DAW or in a live context: it just sounds awesome, or as we in Germany say: schweinegeil!

    Perfect!

I record bass with the LA-2A when I’m looking for a smooth bass sound, and the 1176 when I want a punchier attack. To have access to these studio-quality compressors for live performance is truly a gift!

Use it at Insert Ports (Send and Return ports)

If you have a cheapest Audio Mixer or an Audio Interface (Behringer Uphoria UMC 404 HD) that has insert ports (send and return ports), then you must have it to use it at insert ports; else purchase Volt 276
